BEHIND LOW CONVICTION RATE IN VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (VAW)

CASES”

1. The researcher depends on quantitative and qualitative research methodology. Actually these
are data collection methods.   Researcher should be remove title name and not to include
“research on” in main title.
2. Page 9 in 1.3 sections discuss about three objectives and it must be specific but seems vague
and not related on present research.
3. Chapter 3 in 2.2 sections- must be mention how many judges, lawyers, clerks, accused person
or stakeholders are to be examined. The researcher could include this chapter together with
Chapter One.
The researcher might disclose the data collection method whether observation or questionnaire or
interview and also could specify the primary and secondary sources of DATA.
4. Chapter title should be like CHAPTER ONE not like to be “Chapter:1”
5. I think the researcher could explore literature review section this is not properly addressed.
There are lot of Bangladeshi books and articles which need to be reviewed. If you look into foot
note number 30-32 it seems 1999, 2000, 1983 year’s published book. But this research is about
the LAW of 2003.
6. From my point of view the Literature review Chapter could be added on CHAPTER ONE
also. Researcher could rely on relevant books, articles or reports.
7.Page 28 under footnote 96 it may be non bail able.
8. Chapter Five’s title might be “Low Conviction on Violence Against Women”. I think this is
the core chapter and the hypothesis should not be there.
9. In Bibliography list of legislation I find “The Declaration on the Elimination of Violence
against Women, 1998” and I don’t understand this law.

My observation is likely the researcher examine the primary sources

The Domestic Violence (Protection and Prevention) Act, 2010, The Dowry Prohibition Act,
1980,The Family Courts Ordinance, 1985, The Muslim Family Law Ordinance, 1961
and The Nari O’ Shishu Nirjantan Daman Ain, 2000 (as amended in 2003). In presenting data
the violence area against women must be separated and divided with geographical area.

The contribution is appropriate. The topic itself is very interesting. I appreciate this research.
