About Date of Joining (DoJ)

Q: When will I get my onboarding pass?

A: Onboarding pass will be generated one day prior to the actual DoJ, provided all
1C forms are completed including photo upload and the DoJ is accepted in 1C portal.
Candidates can go to the pre-joining tab to download and print the onboarding pass
and bring the pass for joining.

Q: When is my tentative date of joining? My offer letter does not have a DoJ.
A: Please be informed that the DoJ will be given based on business requirements.
Hence, onboarding will happen in batches based on demand. Your DoJ will be
communicated in a separate email and will specify your joining location.

Q: Why have I not received any email notification even though DoJ has been
mentioned on the portal and forms?
The dates mentioned in the forms are default DoJ. Please await a formal email intimation
with your actual DoJ and location.
Q: When can I expect the call letter / DoJ? Some of my peers have already received
the DoJs.
A: We are onboarding campus hires in batches, based on business requirements. We
request you to be patient and await a formal communication from us. We will send you
an email notifying you on the joining date and location, on receiving a confirmation
from the business.

Q: I have an arrear during the assigned date of joining. Can I report for joining?
A: As mentioned during the recruitment process, the candidate should not have any
arrears and should meet all the eligibility criteria at the time of joining. If the candidate
has an arrear or if their percentage is less than the eligible percentage (stated in the
eligibility criteria) at the time of joining, the candidate’s offer will be invalid.

Q: Why have I not received my DoJ yet, even though I have completed my
pre-joining formalities and my e-learning modules?

A: Please be informed that your DoJ will be confirmed based on business requirement.
Kindly wait for us to get back to you on this.

Q: What is the process to defer the DoJ?

A: Your DoJ cannot be deferred as it is given based on business requirement.

Q. Will accommodation and travel facility be provided for DoJ?

A: Candidates are requested to take care of their travel and accommodation, as we will
not be arranging for the same.

Q: I was sent back on my original DoJ due to absence of mandatory documents. When
will I get an alternate DoJ?
A: If a candidate is sent back due to acceptable reasons, we will inform them on the
schedule for the next onboarding batch (not necessarily the immediate ones) based
on business demands. Please ensure you have all the mandatory documents with you
at the time of joining.
About location

Q: How can I change my joining location?

A: Please note that location allocation is based on business requirements at Cognizant.
The offer was released based on the flexibility you had mentioned during the interview
process. To help us suitably allocate, candidates will be asked for their location preference
as part of the process. However, please note that this is not an assurance of the same,
as discussed during the selection process. Requests for change of location are subject
to business demands and nature of projects, and may not always be possible.

Q: How can I change my location preference in the portal?

A: Please note that location preferences cannot be changed once updated. We would
also like to inform you that the location is based on business requirement. To help us
suitably allocate resources, candidates will be asked for their location preference as
part of the process. However, this is not an assurance of the same, as discussed during
the selection process.

About documents

Q: What documents should I upload in the BGV Portal?

A: You will get an email notification containing the list of required documents. If you are
still pursuing your UG / PG, you would have to submit total semesters minus 2 mark
sheets. Please scan all documents as a single PDF file (less than 5 MB size) and upload.
If provisional / degree certificate of current degree is not yet issued by the university,
the documents need not be uploaded prior to joining. However, post-joining all the
documents have to be submitted within 3 months of your joining date.

Q: What should I do if some of the documents I submitted have been rejected?

A: Please read the comments in the BGV portal against each document and re-upload
the correct documents. Please wait until the new documents are approved.

Q: What is Letter of Authorization?

A: Letter of Authorization (LoA) is a letter that authorizes Cognizant to conduct a
background verification of your credentials. This letter is mandatory for some recruits
and it will be available as one of the documents required in the BGV portal. Recruits
must download the PDF format, print it, fill in the details and then sign, scan and
upload it in the BGV portal to complete the BGV submission. If the LoA document
is not visible to some recruits, then it is not required to be uploaded.

Q: I have been asked to accept the offer, fill 1C forms and upload documents in BGV
portal within 7 days. But I haven’t yet received / applied for the documents yet. What
can I do?
A: It is the responsibility of every recruit to have all documents ready, as communicated,
prior to the recruitment process. It is mandatory for the documents to be uploaded in
the BGV portal within the given timeline. In case, there are genuine reasons for the
documents not being available, please inform us via the C2C portal.

Q: What is Annexure 3? Should I bring it for joining?

A: Annexure 3 is a mandatory document for all 2020 batch students whose provisional
certificate and final semester original mark sheets have not been issued by the respective
university. If the internet printouts of the last semester mark sheets and provisional are
available, you must bring the attested copy (notary or gazette attestation) on the DoJ

along with Annexure 3. It is mandatory to carry all other mark sheets – original or attested
copies – as specified in the DoJ intimation mailer. Provisional certificate and final semester
original mark sheets must be uploaded by respective hires within 3 months of joining, as
Annexure 3 will be valid only for 3 months from the DoJ.

This Annexure 3 document will be collected only for batches joining until September
2020, since all universities would issue the provisional certificate and final semester
mark sheets by September 2020. After September 2020, it is mandatory to produce all
the documents. If there are any backlogs or pending re-evaluation results, the offer
would be invalid and no further onboarding procedures would take place for those
particular hires.

Q: What is a provisional certificate? How do I get it?

A: A certificate stating that a student has successfully completed the courses of studies
prescribed under the rules and regulations and has qualified for award of the degree in
his/her discipline is called a provisional degree certificate. You can apply and get the
same from your institution.
Q: Are passport, Aadhaar, PAN card and voter id essential for joining?
A: Yes, passport, Aadhaar and PAN card are mandatory documents for joining. Voter id is
not mandatory, if a valid passport is available.

Q: Is it mandatory to have a bank account in my name before my DoJ?

A: Yes, please ensure you have a savings bank account in your name, to be included as
your salary account upon joining.
