Error
An Error occurred while downloading to the target system

The project could not be opened

The SQL server cannot access database. Please check access rights.

This problem occurs while downloading to the SERVER from the Engineering Station.

How to overcome the error

Take a note of the following settings on the Server OS station

Folder Sharing

Sharing and access

permissions.

Station Configuration Editor problems before change (With both Mac and IP)

The NDIS IP address must be the same as the network adaptor IP address.

You cannot have the same address on Industrial Ethernet and NDIS

Pinging the engineering station from the Server.

This problem occurs when you have TCP and ISO assigned in your hardware configuration. You cannot
have a MAC and TCP/IP running at the same time with the CP1623 card.

You will notice that you cannot ping the engineering station after the download.

Station Configuration Editor Resolution (With only Mac (ISO))

After removing the TCP/IP setting in the hardware configuration on the Engineering station recompile in
netpro. And make a note of the XBD file for Importing.

Prepared by Bilal Moolla Page 10 of 28

Import Station

Delete the components in Netpro and import the XDB file from the Engineering station.

Disable all other adaptors

Prepared by Bilal Moolla Page 11 of 28

Disable other network adaptors temporarily

Change the IP address so that the NDIS and the Industrial Ethernet IP addresses are different to resolve
this conflict.

Temprary Change of IP Address

Prepared by Bilal Moolla Page 13 of 28

Make the NDIS IP address the IP address of the Server and Industrial Ethernet IP address anything else,
but there nust not be any conflicting addresses.

Conflict Resolved. Now you should beable to

ping the engineering station

Now will beable to ping the Engineering station for import.

Notice your Configuration editor changes as follows

At this stage we will use import station

Select the correct XDB file from your
engineering station over the network.

New Imported file

We are now communicating using MAC addresses.

Prepared by Bilal Moolla Page 17 of 28

Take a note of the following settings on the Engineering station

Set up the IP addresses for each PC in the CP Card (Network Adaptor Settings).

You have to change the hardware configuration and remove the IP settings with a CP card. You cannot
have both MAC and TCP together.

Disable IP
Protocol

Select the WinCC Application and create a
Connection to the PLC. Also make sure the
configured computer name in the project
matches the Actual Server Name.

Save and compile your netpro.

This is not going to work.

You will have to import
the XDB file as explained
below.

Good idea to make the
names identical

Prepared by Bilal Moolla Page 23 of 28

Make a note of the path
where the XDB file is saved
on the engineering station

Prepared by Bilal Moolla Page 24 of 28

Compile the OS Server

Remember the path of the .XBD file on the engineering station because you are going to import this file
“Take a
from the server's station configuration editor. At this stage you should refer to the section

note of the following settings on the Server OS station”

Prepared by Bilal Moolla Page 25 of 28

Make sure you can see all
your PC nodes in Simatic
Shell

Then download to the Server from the engineering station after having a look at the server settings.

Now you should be able to download the OS with out problems.
