As what Eleanor Roosevelt once said, Justice cannot be for one side alone,
but must be for both. It is fair and just. It is one of the things that the poem implies
to us. The poem Justice by Ralph Semino Galan is such a timely literature in our
society today. This poem tackles the reality that the justice system of our country is
weak and slow. Although the poem is all about the Supreme Court, it also reflects
other problems of our government.
What I have learned from the poem is that justice is fair. It always weighs
the proofs that are being presented to it. It clings to no one. It determines whether
something given is the truth or just lies.
I have learned that Justice nowadays is slowly fading and weakening. That
other people would tend to overpower and buy justice; using their influence and
their wealth just to dodge and manipulate many situations regarding justice. That
justice towards the poor and wealthy people are different. Our country is now
uncertain because it is filled with cruel people who is greedy and corrupt. Justice is
now nowhere to be found. As what the poem has said, it is now cloudy as doubts.
Lastly, I have learned that justice excuses no one. A person should be
responsible for his actions. Even if you are in the government, you are not excused
from the law. One must accept the fact that he has done something wrong and face
the consequence of it, and always remember that only the truth shall set you free.
And I quote from Thomas Jefferson, “I tremble for my country when I
reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever”.
