Translations and
Collaborative Works of
National Artist
Manuel Conde and Carlos Franscisco

Both worked each other in many films. One of these


films was acclaimed GENGHIS KHAN.

Francisco’s known for his imaginative production


design while Conde more known in his cinematic
vision.
Tales of the Manuvu
Performed at the CCP in 1985 also benefitted from the efforts of
several National Artists. Recounting the origin of the Manobo
people.

melancholic reminiscence of
ecological transformation.

FRANCISCO V. COCHING
A popular comic-book
illustrator/writer and
regarded as one of the
pillars of the Philippine
Comics Industry.
Coching was a
contemporary of National
Artists.
GERARDO DE LEON
NAA for film
He animated the
comics story of Pedro
Penduko into film,
year 1954.
A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino

Literary play written in English.


 The play forwards concerns about
the value of art, plight of an artists
and the nostalgia for “peace” and
“glory” days in Manila.

NAA for Literature.
Wrote A Portrait of the Artist
as Filipino, 1950.

 His wife and collaborator , the
