“Ideal Contrast”

* In a classroom. The ambiance appeals blurry on Austin’s perspective as he further

makes his judgement about his classmates. On a slow motion except when words are
spoken interactively.

Austin( voice in his head ): Another boring day. I knew today would be a bummer. You
found a good anime to stay late last night and watch all of its episodes then you woke
up the next day knowing your 5 minute nap is not enough to clear your thoughts but had
to wake up anyways because it’s Monday. Last night you party and the next day you
study. I wish I could just stay all day at my house and cuddle with Mr. Pluffins (his cat). I
can’t focus on what Teacher Salvacion is discussing. Mondays are just the worse.
Moreover, I’m surrounded - by this crack heads.

[ Overview of the whole, loud classroom on a slow motion]

[ Screen time of Korean boy singing and slightly dancing]

Renzo: Yes, I want some new face! New face! New face! New, New, New face!

Austin( voice in his head ): The “Korean boy” who annoys me a lot. He makes me
degrade my singing skills. Hey, I can sing. I rock my concerts inside the bathroom. I can
dance as well. He’s just- Better, Uhh.

[ Screen time of Japanese girl with her bizarre behaviour ]

Ahlea: And once again, the day was saved by the- POWER PUFF AHLEA! Igeyoooo!

Austin( voice in his head ): Who knows what runs in her head. That Japanese girl is always
full of energy-which annoys me as well, off course.

[ Screen time of Chinese girl being a supportive mother to her child Ahlea (Not Literal,
they’re classmates. It’s just her personality suits that role]

[ Ivy claps ]

Ivy: Yieee. Okay, okay.

Austin( voice in his head ): Why does she always tolerate her craziness. She annoys me
slightly. About 10, no- 11 percent.

[ Screen time of Italian girl being fancy]

[ Krizea is performing an Italian etiquette and once she finished she will laugh the fancy
way]

Krizea: Uh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh. Absolute-indeed.

Austin( voice in his head ): I don’t want to be with her. Just no.

[ Kym calmly enters the room and took selfies. Austin finds It cute he just don’t want to
admit that]

Rhea: You’re late again, Ms Sadiwa.

Austin( voice in his head ): How does she manage to look so cute even when-What are
you saying, Austin!

All of them are mere annoyance. The noise to my peaceful life and normalcy. I just wish
I was in my room, enjoying the darkness that engulfs me.

[ flashes dark screen ]

I’ll just pretend that they don’t exist. No noise. No giggles. No abnormal. Chill. Austin’s
alone time. Uhh.

And then, that day happened…

Rhea Mae: Ahlea, Kym, Krizea, Renzo and Austin. Your project is about showing the
culture and traditions of Boac.

Mr. Austin you are assigned to lead your group.

[Ms. Salvacion’s statement echoed on the four corners of the room]

[ Flashes Austin’s shocked face ]

Austin: Bananas.

[ Austin is sweating a lot. All of them are in his house. He wants to start the discussion about
the project but he’s shy. It’s very awkward ]

Austin( voice in his head ): What-am-I-going-to dooo!?

[ Austin looks at his busy group mates with their usual behaviour that he hates so much.
Ahlea is being talkative while Ivy listens to her. Renzo is singing and dancing non-stop.
Kym is doing a blog. Krizea is judging the designs of their house ]

Austin( voice in his head ): Maybe I could just melt or maybe I’ll let Mr. Pluffins (his cat) to
talk to them. No! No!

Austin: Ah-

[ Everyone’s attention is on him. He will gulp and he looks nervous]

Austin: Ah, er, ah, er. Ahmm.

Austin( voice in his head): I can’t speak! Everyone thinks I’m crazy-but that girl is the crazy
one (Ahlea). I’m doomed. I’m ready to melt.

Ahlea: Austin!

[ Silence ]
Ahlea: Why didn’t you tell us that we are playing a game? Ah, er, ah, ahmm [ copies
Austin for thinking that his stuttering was a made-up game ]

Krizea: Is that so. I must win. Ah, er, ah, ahmm [ Plays the game in a fancy way]

Renzo: Ah, er, ah, ahmm [ Composes a tune for it ]

Ivy: Go guys. Look at this crazy children. Cuteness overload!

Kym: So guys, here we are playing Austin’s game [ continues her blogging ] Hey, Austin.

[ Flashes Austin’s hopeless face ]

Next scene

[ They are trying to film something for their project but they are a mess ]

Austin( voice in his head ): It doesn’t look so good. The deadline of our project is already
next week and we haven’t even made a concrete plan. My crack head group mates
are making mess and conflicts and misunderstandings are starting to arise between us.
By us-I say me vs. these abnormal people.

Renzo: Hey Austin, Kym’s been checking on you

[Flashes Kym taking Austin’s photos]

Ivy, Renzo, Krizea, and Ahlea: Yieeeeee

[ Austin will hit Renzo for teasing him but still, everyone is teasing him ]

Austin: Let’s just finish doing the project so I can peacefully live without all of you!

Ivy: Aww. Kiddo is mad. Stop teasing him, bullies. [ Ivy pats Austin’s head as he shrugs it
off but everyone think it’s funny ]

Krizea: Settle down people. I have found some crazy lavender circles

Renzo: What does she mean? [ looking at Austin and he just gave him a “Do you think I
knew” face ]

Ahlea: Ooh. Ooh. I will translate her inner fanciness.

She means, she found puto!

[ They will gather around the traditional kakanin of Boac and will discuss]

[ Kym will try to sneak but Ivy noticed ]

Ivy: Where are you going, Kym?

Kym: I have to go. It’s Sunday, I’m going to attend the mass

Ivy: Oh oka-

Austin: Your religion is Catholic too?

[ Kym will shake her head on agreement ]

Renzo: That is why it won’t be hard for the both of you to marry since you’re both
Christians

[ Everyone will tease them again ]

Austin: Whatever.

[ They will go at the church and will discuss. Other religions would be discussed here as
well ]

[ Kym accidentally stained Krizea’s blouse ]

Krizea: Unacceptable! I must cleanse the dirty doings of this evil demon!

Kym: Chill, will you. I said I was sorry.

Krizea: Look at what you have done [ She will talk in a long period of time about her
clothes and her fancy ways ]

Austin(voice in his head): Put that girl away from me. She’s making my nose bleed by her
accent.

Next Scene

[ Austin is in his house, about to play a game ]

Austin: Finally, I can have some Austin time.

Everyone else outside his house: Austin! Hey Austin, come out!

Austin( voice in his head ): Are you for real!? [ scratches head in annoyance ]

[ He went outside, only to find his group mates ]

Austin( voice in his head ): What a surprise [ glares in his inner self ]

Austin: What do you want?

Kym: Have you forgot? Today, we are going to party!

Ivy: Yes, we are going to the “peryahan” Every year, I win jackpot prices on the “roleta”

Ahlea: I’ll win a pink mug this time! In the name of Buddha!

Austin: Really? I’ll really forget that

Krizea: Grandpoo, do not be so grumpy [ fancy way ] [ referring to Austin ]

Renzo: It would be fun. Wow, fantastic baby dance! [ by: Big Bang]

[ Austin have no choice but to join them, as soon as they reach “peryahan,” his crazy
group mates have gone crazier. At first, he is enjoying but is too shy to admit it, later on
he got the hang of it and enjoys fully ]

Last scene

Austin( voice in his head ): Today is the day! This project is a disaster!

Ahlea: What are we going to do?

Ivy: Shh, it’s alright

Austin: Wrap it up. We are going to bind our best shots and create something beautiful.

[ His group mates will look at each other, talking in their eyes then they will nod on
agreement ]

[ all of them start editing, you are really seeing unity in them ]

[ As soon as the editing ends, They passed it to Ms. Salvacion ]
