This article begins with the steps you must do before uninstalling Magaya software from the old server
computer, including making a backup of your data. Read all instructions before beginning this process. Then
follow these steps in order.
CAUTION! You must uninstall Magaya from the old server before installing a fresh copy on the new server.
Leaving the old server with Magaya installed may cause network conflicts once installed on the new server.
This article explains how to migrate your copy of Magaya software from an old server to a new one. If you need
help, contact Magaya Tech Support.
2. Go to the server computer and open the Magaya Database Server Agent (at the bottom right hand corner,
the Magaya Database Server appears as a green cylinder in your taskbar.) Right click and select “Open
Database Administrator.”
3. In the dialog box, click the “Backup” button and select “Manual full backup.”
Choose the location on your hard drive to save your back up file. Make a note of where you save it; you
will need it later.

Suite Controller.”
After it stops, right click the icon again and select “Exit.”

If you don't stop the Database server, it will still be running and will not allow you to uninstall.

COPY Folders with Customizations: After installing the software on the new server: All versions of Magaya
software from version 8.5 and newer need the “Forms” folder and the “Blobs” folder copied to the new server.
The Forms folder will hold any customized documents you may have.
Also copy the cs-scrip and scripts folders if any customizations have been done.

Overview: After the system has been uninstalled from the older server, and you have a backup copy of your
data, you are ready for the next step:
You must install the system on the new server, and restore the backup of your data from the old server.
Make sure you copy the .BAK file that is your Magaya data backup onto the new server’s hard drive so that it
can be accessed during the restore phase.

Steps:
1. When the installation is complete, a wizard called the “Startup Wizard” will start automatically. You must
close this wizard immediately to restore your data properly: Click the X at the top right hand corner to
close the Startup Wizard. (Note: The Startup Wizard is not needed for this process.)
2. Move the Forms folder, the Blobs folder and other folders that you copied from the old server and replace
them in the new server.
3. On the new server you will now see the new version of the Magaya Database Server running in the bottom
right hand corner of your taskbar. Right click on that icon and choose “Open Database Administrator.”
Then click “Restore.” A window will appear asking you to find the location on your hard drive where your
backup is located. Locate that file with your back up data, and choose “Open.” This will begin the Restore
process.
A status message stating, “Restoring Database . . .” appears. The status message remains on screen until
the restoration process is completed. The duration of the restoration process depends on the size of your
backup file.
5. After the Restore process is done, launch Magaya software for the last few steps: When you open the
Magaya Explorer software interface, a prompt will appear asking you if a backup file was created. Type in
“YES” in the white box, and click OK. NOTE: If you're migrating the same version of Magaya software,
this message will not appear.
6. Ensure that all of your data has been restored in its previous state. Then run the Magaya Communication
Suite by clicking the icon in the taskbar.
7. You must now share the Magaya installation folder across your network for the client installations. This is
also necessary for the crucial components that Magaya uses that are executed from the server.
8. Open the ports used by Magaya on your Windows firewall or in your antivirus software, if you have one.
The ports are: 3691 TCP/UDP (for the Magaya Communications Suite) and 6110 TCP (for the Magaya
Database)
1. Go to the client PC that needs Magaya reinstalled in it. From that client PC, access the Magaya installation
folder that you have shared from your server.
2. In the installation folder, you will find an executable named “Setup Client.” Run that program from the
client PC.
