1. Explain how this project is a learning stretch for you.

This project has taught me a lot about myself. Most importantly, it has taught me how to push
myself to my limits (without cause for concern). It has taught me that boxing is a great full body
workout, and is dependent on the use of the whole body to ensure good form. The most I have
ever done in the past concerning working out, has been done by sports such as basketball and
softball, but have never focused on the arms as much as boxing has. Through my scores from
Impact Wrap, I have shown improvement from late October both in terms of force, but speed as
well. I was able to achieve such high scores because I was able to get the same score throughout
each round by not stopping and letting my arms rest.

2. Discuss three problems that you encountered with your project. How did you solve these
problems?
The first problem I encountered was the pain in my fingers after the first couple classes. After the
pain became almost unbearable, I talked to my mentor who told me that I may be wrapping my
hands too tight and I was cutting off circulation for a bit. He showed me the correct way to wrap
my hands, which involved less padding around the knuckles and finishing the wrap under the
wrist. This helped tremendously and my fingers were not hurting anymore. Another problem I
encountered was a problem with my uppercuts since I almost always sprained my wrist after
doing them for a whole round. I suspected that it was because my wrist wasn’t keeping straight
throughout the whole punch, but I decided to talk to the instructor. She informed me that I was
twisting too much when I was going for the punch. After adjusting this, I experienced no
problem afterward.

3. If you could redo your project, what would you do differently?

I would have experimented and gone to different classes with different instructors. This would
have provided a change in classes as well as perspective. I went to almost the same class since
5:30 was the most convenient time for me and I liked the structure of the class.

4. In at least fifty words, discuss the grade you should receive for your project. Describe
what you did in order to ensure that your project was the best it could be. Include at least
three specific examples or reasons to defend your position.
I believe that I should receive a 85 minimum. I have demonstrated improvement of my skills
throughout this process, but I have also overcome enough struggles to demonstrate my learning.
Through the Impact Wrap app, it has shown that my scores have improved. These scores
represent a combination of both force and impacts/per minute, which have steadily increased
from October to March. This demonstrates my improvement in how much I was willing to push
myself in order to achieve such high scores. This project was done while maintaining good
grades in all my AP classes as well as keeping my job.
