GRAVE DIGGER – Assembly Instructions

What you’ll need: Scissors, glue (or a glue stick) and a ruler or other straightedge. You
might also want a piece of cardboard 10 inches square to strengthen the game board.

Begin by cutting out the Game Board (Left Side) on parts page 1, and the Game Board
(Right Side) on parts page 2. Place the inside edge of the board’s Right Side (the edge
with the red X) over the blank green area of the board’s Left Side, and glue the two sides
of the board together. You may now want to glue the board to a piece of cardboard to
strengthen it, and trim as necessary.

Next cut out the headstones on parts page 2. Don’t separate the individual pieces yet, just
cut along the outside red lines. Fold UPWARDS along the black lines between the side
panels and the base panels (with the grassy half circles) and then fold DOWNWARD
along the black center line. The piece should now resemble Figure1. Glue the two side
panels together (but do NOT glue the base panels together). Then cut out the individual
headstones and flatten out the bases as shown in Figure2. Place the headstones over the
white spots on the Game Board and glue in place.

Now cut out the four trees on parts pages 3 and 4. Cut along the red outer lines and then
assemble in the same manner as we did the headstones. Place the trees over the four red
spots on the Game Board and glue in place.

While we have parts page 4 handy, let’s cut out the four Player pieces (along the outer
red lines) and build them in the same manner as the headstones. The finished Player
pieces can be glued to coins or small washers if you wish, but they should work fine
using just paper. Cut out the twelve Tool markers on parts page 4 and set them aside with
the Player pieces.

We’ll finish the Game Board by adding the eight Phantoms on parts page 5. Again, cut
along the outer lines and then assemble in the same manner as the headstones. Note that
the bases have a front side (with the phantom’s shadow) and a back side (with grass and a
blank gray area). After cutting out the individual phantoms, cut away the blank gray area
on the backs of the bases. Place green phantoms on the four outer corners of the Game
Board, and along the three pathways leading to the center of the Game Board. The front
of the phantoms’ bases (with the shadow) should cover the matching squares on the
Game Board. In the same manner, place the red phantom beside the square with the red X
and glue the phantom in place. Your Game Board is now complete. Just a few more
pieces and you can begin playing the game!
Cut out the Grave Cards on parts page 6, cutting along the red outer lines. Fold
DOWNWARD along the black center line and then glue the two sides together. To cut
out the individual cards, hold the piece so the closed graves (with headstones) are facing
you and the open graves (with coffins) are facing away from you. Now cut out the six
individual cards. Be very careful to cut exactly along the edges, because we want all six
cards to look identical. The backs (with the coffins) are printed slightly larger than the
fronts, so you shouldn’t need to trim the cards after cutting them out. Set the finished
Cards aside with the Tools and Player pieces
.
Cut out the Die on parts page 8. Fold the seven blank flaps DOWNWARD and then fold
DOWNWARD between the six sides. We’ll be gluing the tabs to the BACK of the sides.
Begin by connecting side 1 to side 3 and side 4. Next connect side 6 to side 3 and side 4.
The Die should now resemble Figure3. Connect side 5 to sides 1, 4, and 6, being careful
not to collapse the cube.

You now have all the parts needed to play the game, but it’s also good to have a storage
box to keep the pieces in when you’re finished playing. Cut out the box and lid on parts
page 7. To build the box, fold the four blue tabs DOWNWARD and the fold the four
sides DOWNWARD. Glue the four blue tabs to the back of the adjoining sides to form a
box, as shown in Figure 4. To build the lid, fold the four blue tabs DOWNWARD, fold
the four black panels DOWNWARD, and then fold the four side panels DOWNWARD.
Glue the blue tabs to the back of the adjoining sides, in the same manner as the box. Then
fold down the four black panels and glue them to the back of the four side panels. The lid
should now fit snugly over the box. Place the Grave Cards, Tool markers, Player pieces
and the Die into the box.

You’re now ready to grab a friend and do some grave digging. Good Luck!
