To Whom It May Concern,

Writing a letter of recommendation for a highly valued member of our team always comes with
mixed feelings, but I am very pleased to support Jessica in her goals to move into a position that
will allow her to utilize her passion and skills related to counseling. As our Instructional Coach
for the last 2 years and a counselor intern for the 19-20 school-year, Jessica has proven her
depth and breadth of leadership skills in support of our school improvement goals and our aim
to close the opportunity gap for all students. She leads with a clear vision and unwavering focus
that supports her colleagues and our scholars to focus on the right things at the right time.

As our counselor intern, Jessica has sought opportunities to engage and learn and has been
pivotal in our focus on the whole child. She has been highly engaged in providing one-on-one
counseling with students, supporting our Kids 2 Love initiative (daily connections with students
identified needing a relationship with a caring adult), PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and
Supports)Tier 2 interventions, participating on our Student Assistance team, and developing a
structure for providing academic study groups focused on study skills and college/career
readiness. Jessica managed these responsibilities on top of her roles and responsibilities as an
Instructional Coach which speaks to her stellar time management and ability to prioritize and
respond accordingly.

Jessica understands the critical role a counselor plays in developing the school culture and
creating a place where students feel safe, connected, and empowered to achieve at their
highest level. She gets alongside teachers in a way that feels responisve, asks thoughtful
questions, and supports without enabling. I appreciate her understanding of data and how she
leverages our data story to inform the “why” and move the team to strategic action/next steps.
She is an effective communicator and team player in every sense. I have no doubt that Jessica
will continue to have an impact on the culture and community in her role as a counselor.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Anne Plenkovich
