Think about the Pledge of Allegiance that you probably learned

in school. If, for some reason, you didn’t learn it, look it up. It
doesn’t matter whether you believe in saying the pledge or not.
That is not important in this context. The question to answer in
this assignment is, “Is the Pledge of Allegiance an ethical
statement?” “Why?” Apply Mr. Josephson’s definition of
ethics, place it in context of the points that were outlined above
and answer both questions.

Yes, The Pledge of Allegiance is ethical.

The Pledge of Allegiance stands for the freedom that our country has fought for.

The word allegiance means loyalty: Being a citizen of a country means you have duty
to be loyal to your country, defend this land and take pride in the virtues our country
stands for.

The Pledge of Allegiance states, liberty and justice for all.

The Pledge of Allegiance not only honors those who have kept us free, but it reminds
us of how fortunate each of us are to live in a country that values education and
freedom and living the virtue of morally right.

As defined by Mr. Josephson. Ethical means Standards of duty and virtue that define
what is morally right, good, and proper and guides the conduct of good people. It
correlates the goals of Pledging Allegiance to country. Therefore, The Pledge of
Allegiance is ethical in nature.
