BATHROOM CLEANING

1. Remove all items from their usual spot.

For best results, do this step for the entire bathroom instead of as you go. Remove all of your
products from the shower and/or bathtub (Take a photograph for reference). Remove all used
towels and rugs outside the room. Move any items from the counters outside the bathroom, as
well. Don’t forget to grab any trash cans. Use a plastic sheet to keep items outside bathroom
so the customer will not feel our job is unprofessional.

2. Dust and sweep.

To get rid of dust, grab your duster with a long handle to remove any cobwebs in corners, on
light fixtures or in vents. If you still can’t reach the cobwebs, pull in a stepladder to get up
high. Once done, sweep or vacuum the floors to pick up hair and other debris that may have
accumulated on the floors. Cleaner exhaust fans also.

3. Apply cleaner to shower and bathtub.

Apply an all-purpose cleaner if you clean regularly or an acid-based cleaner if you have
serious buildup to your shower. Don’t forget the shower track and inside the shower door if
applicable. Let it soak in your bucket with a detergent.

4. Tackle other surfaces.

Spray the all-purpose cleaner on to your cleaning device (i.e. microfiber cloth, sponge, etc.)
and wipe down any towel racks, shelves, baseboards, doors, blinds and windowsills. Work in
sections from the top of the room to the bottom, and left to right.

5. Mix cleaning solution for floor.

Fill a bucket with warm water and the recommended amount of all-purpose cleaner

6. Clean the shower and bathtub.

At this point, the cleaner will have done much of the work for you, allowing you to lightly
scrub away loose dirt and buildup. Get all walls, floors and other surfaces clean before
rinsing.

7. Finish the shower and bathtub.

Replace all items you removed, wiping them if necessary as you go, then close the shower
curtain or door. If you do have a shower door, spray glass cleaner to give it a streak-free
finish.

8. Clean the vanity area.

Spray the all-purpose cleaner on the sink, faucets and countertops, then wipe with a clean
cloth. If you have buildup in the sink or in a soap dish, use a scrubby sponge to loosen before
wiping clean. Use the glass cleaner on your mirror. A cloth dampened with water will remove
dust from cabinet faces.

9. Clean the toilet.

If you scrub inside your toilet regularly, the all-purpose cleaner should get the job done.
Spray or sprinkle a toilet-specific cleaner if buildup exists, then scrub with a toilet brush
before flushing. Spray the outside of the toilet with the all-purpose cleaner, then wipe with a
clean cloth.

10. Mop the floor.

Submerge your mop into the bucket of cleaning solution, squeeze out excess water, then
clean the bathroom floor. Once dry, replace the trashcan and your freshly laundered rugs.

The above can help you clean your bathroom fast and efficiently, as can keeping it tidy
between cleanings. Follow these tips to do the latter:

Install a hair-catcher in your drain to avoid build-up. When water doesn’t drain as it should, it
leaves behind an ugly ring around the shower or bathtub.

Squeegee shower walls after use to keep water marks at bay.

Use steamer and then vacuum for avoid any hair, debris etc.

Steps for Bathroom Cleaning

A general tip to keep in mind during every step is to work your way from the top down –
that is, dust the light fixtures and wipe down the countertops before cleaning the floor.
This way, any dust or debris that falls will be cleaned up as you work your way down.
The only exception to this guideline is the sink, which you should save for last.

Fill the sink with warm water and your preferred cleaning product or soap. If the sink is
really dirty, give it a quick rinse so you don’t contaminate your cleaning water. This will
serve as your “bucket,” which you’ll use to rinse rags and sponges while you
clean(optional method) . You’ll also want a spray bottle filled with a cleaning product or
equal parts vinegar and water.

Remove – Make yourself some space to clean.

 Bath mats or rugs

 Anything on countertops
 Dirty laundry
 The wastebasket (and empty it!)

Spray – Apply your preferred cleaning product to areas that need to be cleaned. Let it
soak in while you clean other areas.

 Sinks
 Bathtub
 Shower
 Toilet

Wipe – Use a rag or sponge to work from ceiling to floor, wiping down all surfaces in the
bathroom (except the mirror and toilet). Frequently rinse your rag or sponge. Spray
cleaning solution on areas that need to be disinfected.

 Light fixtures
 Vent fans
 Curtain rods

 Shower fixtures
 Sink faucets
 Vanity & countertop

Scrub – Return to areas that you previously sprayed and use a sponge or a stiff brush to
remove soap scum and mildew. Rinse with clean water or rinse your sponge in the sink
as you scrub.

 Shower walls
 Bathtub
 Shower door glass
 Toilet

Floor – Vacuum the floor and bathmats. Use a steam mop or microfiber mop with
disinfectant to finish. Shine – It’s the details that make a difference. Finish up with a dry
rag; buff and shine everything! Use glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth or crumpled
newspaper to clean the mirror.

 Faucets & fixtures

 Drain caps
 Handles & knobs
 Mirror

Finish up by draining the sink and rinsing it with fresh water. Wipe up any water that may
have splashed on your clean countertop and faucet.

As you follow our bathroom cleaning instructions, feel free to add anything your
bathroom may require specifically. Maybe you have a steam room that needs to be
sanitized or a glass shower door covered in hard-water spots. Customize your cleaning
plan by adding specific needs to the checklist.

 Use Glass Cleaner (usually for windshields) to keep glass shower doors cleaner.
 Keep a few extra trash bag liners in the bottom of the wastebasket when
replacing the liner.
 Use a rag with an abrasive oxalic acid cleaner to buff hard-water spots on shower
door glass.
 Let cleaning products soak in while you do another task.
 Remove dust from vent fan grilles with a vacuum that has a brush attachment, or
use a can of compressed air.
 Make a paste with baking soda and water for an all-purpose scrub that’s great for
grout or tub stains.
 Run your toothbrush and soap holder through the dishwasher.
 Soak a showerhead in vinegar to remove hard-water deposits and limescale.
 Keep bathrooms cleaner by keeping disinfectant wipes below the sink. Use
disinfectant wipes to wipe down surfaces between cleanings.
