Subject Matter: Earth and Space


Grade Level: Grade 8
Time Allotment: 60 mins.

Learning Competencies:
Using models and illustrations, the
students explains the difference between
asteroids, comets and meteors.
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students must be
able to;
a. Differentiate comets, meteors and
asteroids,
b. Value the importance of Earth and Space
and
c. Construct/present their own model of solar
system.

Content:
Philippines is a developing country. We
have lackings and liabilities. Still, the
government are trying to support every aspect
particularly the education sector. Most schools
are provided by and supported.
The school provides facilities and other
instruments that can cater all the needs of every
students. At CMU Laboratory Highschool, the
students are trained to explore on their own.
During second quarter, all grade 8 level, they
are encouraged to create a unique model that
symbolizes the Earth and Space.
Earth and Space is very interesting since it
talks about planets, constellations, comets,
asteroids and meteors. It is very good to study
this because we are evolving, continually
changing and we must know its importance and
how can we help in order to create a beautiful
place to live on.

In a 1/2 sheet of paper, crosswise, fill in the
blanks. Answer whole heartedly.

ENGAGE (5 mins.)
Present a video about "History of Comets, LCD, Laptop
Asteroids, and Meteors."

1. What is the color of the asteroids?
2. Where is Neil Armstrong in the video?
EXPLORE (20 mins.)
After watching the video, with a group of 5, the White cartolina, marker, colors, glue.
students will create an illustration about the
comet, asteroid and meteors.

1. What is the main difference in the three?
2. Is there any resemblance?
EXPLAIN (10 mins.)
After creating an illustration, students will then Created illustration
explain their output.

Elaborate (10 mins.)
The teacher will present her prepared lesson. Powerpoint presentation, LCD, laptop
