SIMPLE PAST

 What do all the sentences have in common?


 What time do they refer to? Present, Past or Future?
 What about the last 4 sentences? Why are they different?

 I played tennis yesterday


 He travelled to Paris in 2019
 They smoked 2 cigarettes yesterday
 He walked to the office last week
 He tried to use the Pc
 She parked the car in the street last night
 I wanted to eat ice cream yesterday
 I didn’t talk to my sister last week.
 She didn’t order a pizza last night
 Did they jump in the gym class?
 Did you cook a cake yesterday?


She opened a letter an hour ago.


He ordered pizza. He received the pizza at home. He ate it.


His played basketball when he was a child.
AFFIRMATIVE:
Subject + verb (in past form) + rest of sentence.

Example:
I rented a movie yerterday.
He shouted in the balcony

NEGATIVE:
Subject + auxiliary verb did not (or didn’t)

+ verb (infinitive) + rest of sentence.

Example:
He didn't answer the telephone.
They didn’t cook pasta last night
INTERROGATIVE:
Auxiliary verb (Did) + subject + verb(infinitive)
+ rest of sentence + ?.

Example:
Did you have cook last night?
Did they use the phone in class?
