This novel starts a few years after where Ponniyin Selvan has ended and it portrays the hardship faced
by Vandhiyathevan and Kundavai before their marriage, Arun mozhi varmar’s sea travel and his another
love.

2. வந்தியத்தேவன் வாள் [Vandihyathevan vall] - Sequel to Nandhipurathu Nayagi - Vandhiyathevan

appears in old age in this novel and this story is about Rajendra chola’s love and how Rajendra Chola
gets Vandhiyathevan’s great sword.

3. உடையார் #1 [Udayar] - This novel talks about how the Tanjore Big Temple was built. The novel spans
six parts and the author has done an extensive research for writing this novel. The next time you visit
Tanjore Big temple after reading this novel, you will definitely feel the influence of this novel.

4. காவிரி மைந்தன் [Kaviri Maindhan] (Part 1) - Sequel to Ponniyin Selvan

5. வேங்கையின் மைந்தன் [Vengaiyin Maindhan](vandhiyathevan appears as samandha nayagar - chief of

all madhandanayagar) - This novel had won the Sahitya Academy award for best novel in 1963.

It talks about the invasion of Rajendra Chola to Srilanka to bring back the Pandya’s Crown and the
invasion towards Ganges. Vandhiyathevan appears as Samanthanayakar (chief of all army generals) in
this novel.

6. sangadhara -a different view on adidtya karikalan’s murder. Even though the author has presented a
lot of historical information to support his view, certain questions still arise after reading that novel. This

7. மலர்ச்சோலை மங்கை (பொன்னியின் செல்வனுக்கு முன்) [Malarcholai mangai]- prequel to ponniyin

selvan. This story starts during the Paranthaka Chola’s invasion to Pandya Nadu and ends with
Vandhiyathevan starting from Kanchipuram to meet Sundara Chozhar and Kundavai.

8. இராஜகேசரி - This novel talks about the conspiracy to kill Raja Raja Chozha and it is a gripping thriller.

The following historical novels do not feature the characters in Ponniyin Selvan but are related to Cholas
and pallavas.

் ிபன் கனவு [Parthiban Kanavu] - The first historical novel by Kalki. The story is about a young
chola prince Vikraman and his attempts to revive Chola Kingdom from Narashima Pallavar and how
Narashima Pallavar indirectly helps him reach his goal.

2.கடல் புறா [Kadal Pura] - This is one of the masterpiece from Sandilyan. The author has spent nearly
eight months in research to write this novel and it is fairly evident from the facts that he presents during
the novel. It is difficult to put down the novel once we take it.
