Emperor Babur

The great Mughal Emperor Babur is remembered as one of the prominent personalities of the

Mughal Empire. The autobiography of Babar describes contains two excerpts, one about the

battle of Panipat and the other one from his letter to Humayoun who later became the emperor

succeeding his father. The history reveals various events and provides various evidences about

the conquests of Mughals and their greatness, one of which is the battle of Panipat. The excerpts

describe the preparation and the strength of the Mughal army against the army of Ibrahim Lodhi

on their way to Panipat and how it is loaded with carts and weapons, which describes the Mughal

Empire’s image as a Gunpowder empire. This also highlights the might and strength of the

Mughal army and Babar’s perception about his empire and his warriors whom he thinks of as

highly brave and efficient. Babar’s perception about himself, his empire and his people are

highly enlightening. Babar rationally described and predicted his victory over Ibrahim Lodhi as

he perceived him as a miserable money loving human who does not know how to rule. One of

Babar’s biggest motivations was his powerful regime and his image of the mighty Mughal

emperor, who cannot be easily defeated.

Another excerpt from his letter to his son explains a beautiful and responsible relationship

between the father and the son where he also corrects him for his writing mistakes, gramma and

other mistakes while also lecturing him about accepting the loneliness and solitude that comes

with the Kingman ship. He has also been seen as worrying about the bonding of his two sons and

advised Humayoun to always look after the younger brother and stated with clarity that

Humayoun should be leading after him as to avoid any confusion.
