May/June Creative Challenge Board

Students, choose one or two of your favorite creative challenges to try at home, or try as many as
you have time for. Make sure to get permission from parents before using art supplies and other
materials at home for these and other creative explorations and clean up any messes that you make.
Photography Fun: Try to get good, clear pictures!

Drawing Ideas

ER (Enhanced Reality) drawing: try to
make a realistic drawing of something
at home but add imaginary details to
the scene. Can you get a photo that
combines your drawing with the real
thing?
Texture hunt: use the side of a
crayon or oil pastel, or the flat edge
of (colored) pencil tips to make
rubbings of interesting textures
around your home. Layer colors
for the best results.
Texture rubbing art, use some of
your favorite textures to create an
artistic composition: layer textures
and colors, maybe even make a
drawing of something out of your
rubbings
 Print-making Collage

Draw on a plastic bag with markers (non-permanent)
and then place a piece of paper on top of the bag
and rub over it to make a print; sometimes the
second or third ‘ghost print’ that you make may be
the best! (handle the bag carefully or you’ll get ink all
over!)
Use paper decorated with your rubbings and/or prints,
colors and pictures from junk mail, old magazines, or
whatever other scrap paper that you can find ,and make a
collage. Be creative and think about how to best arrange
the shapes, colors, and values to make an interesting
composition
.
