Business reflects on a person’s daily activities, occupation or profession that mostly

focus on trade or exchange of particular goods and services for commerce. Administration,

on the other hand, defines the actual process or a particular system laid down to run a

business. Administration acts as the foundation of a business and determines a course taken

by the business operation. The act of exchange or goods and services in many cases calls for

strategic implementations of business tactics aimed at development and continuity of a

business plan. The core of business in need of proper implementation turns out to be

leadership. Leadership in the perspective of business describes the action of leading a

particular group of people or organization towards a common goal or achievement.

The paper focuses on leadership interview, analysis and possible conclusions on

business operations and administration. For research in business operations and

administration Sinai Hospital of Baltimore was chosen as the primary focus unto which

valuable information concerning the topic was to be obtained. The Sinai Hospital was

founded in 1866 as a Hebrew hospital to provide exceptional health care services to the great

Baltimore. The organization, however, is nonprofit having been primarily sponsored by the

Jewish as a healthcare organization (Gollenia, 2016). An overview of the company chosen for

the research highlights that leadership turns out to be a primary concept taken under

consideration in business operations following the vivid fact that a leader directs the general

operations of a company or an organization. It, therefore, points out that good governance of

an organization predicts proper achievements and a full meeting of set targets.

Additionally, the chosen organization points that communication is essential in a

business organization or a company. Communication in the field of business operations and

administration reflects on the exchange of information and data from one point to another of

the company to accomplish a common goal already set by the company. Similarly, the

company reveals that setting of realistic goals turns out to be vital in developing dedication in

setting up strategies for meeting the targets of the business operations and administration.

However, to realize the full potential and importance of business administration, I

interviewed with Kenneth L. Davis, who is the president and Chief Executive Officer of the

healthcare organization. The Chief Executive Officer of the healthcare organization

extensively covered the topic of business operations and administration by highlighting the

essentials of leadership in making an organization successful.

I asked Kenneth Davis what he understood by the term business administration,

whereby he described business administration as the managing a business or a non-profit

organization in a way that both development and stability are maintained. He added to his

point by citing a business administrator is someone that handles financial operations of the

business but clarified that a business administrator’s task would vary based on type and size

of a company or organization (Tongur & Engwall, 2014). According to the president of the

Sinai Hospital administration and management have separate meanings whereby

administration involves decision-making and setting up of critical policies and objectives of

an organization while management often involves execution of the policies made by an

administration level of an organization. Kenneth described management as a profession

emphasizing that the profession had significantly exceptional features from other professions.

Restricted entry was one of the features he cited for the profession stating that an

organization would appoint candidates only with MBA degrees. Additionally, the presence of

professional associations was another feature pointed by Chief Executive Officer of the Sinai

Hospital whereby he highlighted that special association's registration was necessary for

management and administration professions. Ethical codes added to the features pointed by

Kenneth whereby he explained that every organization runs under specific codes followed by

employees and employers and thereby ethical behavior was necessary for the professions of

administration and management. The president of Sinai Hospital focused on the concept of

SWOT analysis as a primary factor taken into consideration in the field of business

administration and operations. For a start, the Chief Executive Officer opened SWOT

analysis by citing that it stood for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis.

The SWOT analysis ideas put up by the president of the company pointed that and

organization should have the ability to notice its strengths and weakness significantly about

external opportunities and threats that. Additionally, the SWOT analysis concept operated

under internal and external environments of a company whereby the internal environments

referred to the strengths and weaknesses of an organization while the external environment

described the opportunities and threats that directly affected the company (Jones, 2014). The

concept of flexibility in an organization about business operations and administration was

handled exceptionally by the Sinai Hospital leader whereby he explained flexibility as the

ability of an organization to change significantly to match a particular situation of

opportunities or threats. Under the concept of flexibility different kinds of issues or problems

pointed to an organization’s operations and administrations whereby the manner in which a

particular problem got handled by an organization reflected on the organization’s experience

and expertise.

Similarly, the needs and wants of the employees working for an organization largely

affected the company’s operations and administration in that a business administration needs

to cater for the needs of its employees for effectivity and cooperation. According to the

Kenneth Davis, competitiveness was a concept relating to flexibility. Competition in an

organization especially competition reflecting on the employees was a motivating factor

which added to the development of the company and boosted business administration.

organization (Mujasi & Puig-Junoy, 2015). The relationship between the employees and the

employers turns out essential for the development and continuity of a company based on the

fact that the employees are the core of daily operations of an organization. The company’s

self-awareness turns out to be equally important in the field of development and stability of a

company. Therefore, a company should recognize internal and external factors that contribute

to its development. The research information collected on both cases of research points to the

important fact that the administration of an organization acts as the foundation of the

company and the daily operations and management activities rely on the administration

protocol laid out.
