1 THE MONTAGE

The film starts off with a short montage, it begins showing a split screen of 2
news reporters and the prime minister, all of the sound overlaps. It then
shows another split screen with some more news reporters and the sounds
overlapping and mixing again. There are then a few more scenes of reporters
and then the title shows.

2 INT – IN THE HOUSE – MORNING

It starts with a black screen that shows the word “Mum”. Then there is a
close up of a small clock is showing the time 7:59 and then it changes to
8:00, as soon as it does the alarm goes off making a loud beeping noise and a
hand reaches into frame to turn it off.
The shot then shows a few close ups of the mum doing very mundane jobs, it
starts off with the mum doing some ironing in the kitchen. Then, it shows the
mum putting some washing into the washing machine with only the washing
machine in frame. Finally, there is a shot of the mum doing some gardening
with an over the shoulder shot and the a close up of her hands.

There is then another black screen showing “Dad”. The point of view then
changes to the dad asleep, he hears the alarm go off and then rolls over. You
then see a few close ups of the dad also doing some mundane jobs, he starts
off by doing some reading, showing an over the shoulder shot of reading and
then a close up when he changes the page. Then you see a close up of him
doing some washing up. After you see the dad doing some DIY, he starts
sawing a piece of wood.

Another black screen shows “Ben” and you see the boy, Ben asleep and
when he hears the alarm goes off he puts his pillow over his head. You then
see him open his curtains, sit back down, turn his tv on and do some gaming.

After a black screen shows “That evening”. There is a split screen showing
all 3 perspectives, this is then where the continuous shot begins, it starts
showing a pan of boiling water, in the background you can hear the loud
whirl of the water boiling. From there it pans over to mum chopping, the
chopping sounds are a little louder than the other sounds around. The camera
then moves up to her face and away from her, as it moves you can still hear
her chopping in the background.
The camera moves backwards and backs through the doorway, and pans
around to show dad at the computer, as the camera moves towards dad the
chopping sounds fade and keyboard typing sounds get louder. The camera
then pans around to face the dad and as he is working his phone goes off and
he answers.

DAD:
Hello, Bob Eccleston here.

The camera then carries on from dad and pans around to Ben who is sat on his phone
whilst watching television. The camera moves in front of him, facing him and then
around the side and backwards showing the television and then glancing down to an over
the shoulder shot and ending at him looking at his phone.
