unused-after-hurricane-maria/4522472002/

Puerto Rico has been struggling since the massive devastation caused by Hurricane Maria

in 2017. However, they keep getting hit by large natural disasters, just recently an earthquake

that caused millions to need shelter and supplies. The shortage of supplies in Puerto Rico during

these disasters has been publicized and the government has received backlash for the warehouses

having no supplies.

Last month, a video of citizens raiding a warehouse was posted on Facebook, receiving

immediate feedback. The video shows a warehouse stocked full of supplies in an area where

people were seeking shelter due to the earthquake. This shocked citizens, enraging them and

ensuing a rage parade on Pertorican officials. The Governor Wanda Vázquez fired Fernando Gil

and Glorimar Andújar who were part of the housing and family department due to these events.

She said she was not aware of this warehouse and is disappointed that this happened. These

workers were not doing their jobs and did not report that these supplies were in this warehouse.

In order for there to be a stable system within Puerto Rico everyone needs to be doing their jobs

correctly or it could mean the death of a mass amount of people.
