REFLECTION PAPER: THE UNFORTUNATE CORCUMSTANCES

SURROUNDING THE DISTRIBUTION OF 5,000 PHP GOVERNMENT
ASSISTANCE IN YOUR BARANGAY

In the midst of the current outbreak of the Novel Corona virus throughout the
world, it has indeed brought an adverse effect to the people not just putting their
health at risk but as well as the economical stability of the people. Ever since the
Enhanced Community Quarantine is implemented, hundreds of companies put
all works on hold until further notice which results for the employees to have no
income until the quarantine has been lifted wherein works are allowed continue.
In this way, the Philippine Government have pledged to provide financial aid of
5,000 Php to the families in different regions throughout the country. However, a
series of controversies were brought by people who allegedly weren’t able to
receive the promised financial aid from the government.

A lot of people have been raising their concerns towards not being able to
receive the 5,000 php financial aid from the government. Some have said that
other members of the city or barangay officials have got a share from the money
having people to only receive less than the said amount. This is clearly
something that should be taken action by the government. The people are well
informed that they are to receive the 5,000 php, so it is not a question for them to
expect that they will receive the exact amount. That is why a lot of them are
enraged when they found out that they receive less than the said amount or for
some, absolutely nothing. My family are one those who weren’t able to receive
the financial aid. But we are not that furious about that because thankfully, we
are privileged enough to support our own needs but what I am most concerned
about are those who are in need. Families that doesn’t have a other resources
for their needs other than the bread winner’s job which as now put on hold
because of the quarantine. What if people like them are the ones being
neglected? How will they be able to survive in this tough time?

This pandemic is hell of a downfall to everyone in this world. Our resources

are limited and if time comes where we have already used up all of those how
are we going to push through with our lives? We are not sure on when will this
put to an end, not until a vaccine is provided for everyone. But one thing for sure
is that as long as people are united to work as one upon following the protocols
and preventive measures, then definitely cases will be minimized which is the
most simple thing we could achieve during this time.

POSITION PAPER: THE LIFTING OF THE ENHANCED COMMUNITY

QUARANTINE (ECQ) AND THE INSTITUTION OF THE GENERAL
COMMUNITY QUARANTINE (GCQ) IN ZAMBOANGA CITY

It has been exactly 56 days since the Enhanced Community Quarantine is

implemented in the city last March 20 th. The number of positive cases in the city
have been rapidly increasing, it started from person that had a history of travel
from Manila until numerous inmates from city jail were tested positive for the
COVID-19. This information is indeed alarming for each and everyone of us here
in Zamboanga city. Every single day more and more people are tested positive
without the complete assurance of recovery given that there are still no distinct
cure for the virus.

Recently, The Philippine government have imposed a General Community

Quarantine in some areas in the Philippines, specifically the low-risk areas, and
Zamboanga is one of the areas that is to follow the General Community
Quarantine on May 16, 2020 onwards. In GCQ, certain establishments are now
allowed to operate and other works are now resumed, though classes are still
suspended. I think that the city is not yet ready to be on General Community
Quarantine since positive case have been reportedly increasing in a blink of an
eye. Thus, if more people are to be out in public then there might be a tendency
where the virus will spread more. We can’t even assure that everyone will follow
the proper protocols and preventive measures knowing that some Filipinos are
stubborn and only want to do the things that they want and care less about the
people that surround them.

It is yet a question for everyone when will this pandemic end. A lot of people
are having a hard time in sustaining their daily needs. Some are living in fear of
acquiring this disease. But we all know that the Government is doing its best in
making sure that people in this country will get through this tough time.
