Research on different articles which discuss contemporary issues that can be addressed by the encyclicals given
below. Identify and examine what teachings of the encyclicals are applicable to the articles that were
researched.

It’s about an employer who allegedly left their household helper nearly blind
due to physical abuse.
What teachings of the encyclical is applicable to the issue:
Working permits people to earn an honorable living, but it's wrong to treat
workers as pure objects. Workers and the wealthy rely upon one another.
Rerum Novarum The worker should perform the tasks they freely consent to, never harm the
property of an employer, never use violence for their cause, never engage in
disturbances or anarchy, and not collaborate with those who urge them to
behave unethically. The employer should respect each employee's integrity,
and should not see them as slaves. Workers must also have time for their
religious obligations and accept responsibilities relevant to their sex and age.
The laborer-employer relationship should be formed by the bonds of
friendship and brotherly love. Both the employees and the employers should
be protected by their rights.

Underpaid, overworked, and unappreciated Filipino nurses during a sudden
deployment ban on health workers during the coronavirus outbreak.
What teachings of the encyclical is applicable to the issue:
The wealth of a county comes from the very work of its people. Citizens will
use their money to serve the common good and to support those who are
less fortunate. Labor is worth just as much as the resulting goods and a
worker should be paid enough to support himself and his family. Yet it is
important to remember that, as required by the scriptures, one's income
should be used to support those who are less fortunate beyond what is
necessary to live frugally and with dignity. To achieve only results, there must
be a revival of the Christian spirit among the workers and employers involved

 in economic life. Social justice and social welfare do ought to play a part in
influencing economic life, focusing on Christian compassion and universal
welfare, and focusing on everlasting life in Jesus Christ.

What teachings of the encyclical is applicable to the issue:
Mater et Magistra The world's richest nations will act to support those countries that are less
developed and whose citizens struggle for the basic necessities of life. Help
from the developed world should come in the form of food for the poor, but
technology and infrastructure should also enable other nations to develop.
International help must be provided in a way that respects the independence
of every nation and the integrity of every person. Human life is precious and
has to be preserved and reinforced through the family. Future generations
are protected through education that makes a sound formation of culture
and religion.

III. Action

Among the articles you have analyzed, chose one issue that you would like to focus on and create a three-liner
slogan that promotes the teaching of the encyclical applicable to the issue of your choice. The slogan may be in
English or Filipino language.
