This is to certify that CP has been introduced under the degree of Master of business
administration (MBA) course. So, the theoretical knowledge is not enough you must have
some additional knowledge in both theoretical knowledge in both theoretical as well as
practical portion, as we are aware about that only theoretical or bookies knowledge cannot
help to understand reality or practicality of the business field. So, one must has to understand
with the practical knowledge which helps allot to understand business. Then it will be
definitely help for us to increase our knowledge regarding to practical field both as a link
between theory and actual industrial practices as well as an opportunity for hands on
experience in corporate environment. I know that training is for development and
enhancement of the knowledge in this particular field. It can never be possible in today’s
competitive era only with theoretical knowledge of admission and management of business is
very important. Hence practical study has great important for M.B.A. students.

Hence, I have selected Multispecialty Hospital of being aware about practical knowledge.

GENERAL
INFORMATION

ABOUT THE MUTISPECIALTY HOSPITAL

7
What is Hospital?
“The hospital is an integral part of a social and medical
organization, the function of which is to provide for the population complete healthcare, both
curative and preventive, and whose outpatient services reach out to the family in its home
environment; the hospital is also a Centre for the training of health workers and for bio-social
research”.

There are many types of hospital which is below:-

General
Hospital

Special Governmental
Hospital
Various Hospital hospital

Semi
Govt.
Hospital

(1) General Hospital

8
General hospital are meant to provide wide-range of various types of healthcare, but with
limited capacity. They care for patient with various-disease conditions for both sexes to all
ages, medical, surgical, obstetrics, eye and ear etc. Usually, general hospitals are devoid of
super-specialist medical care.

(2) Special Hospital

They limit their service to a particular condition, orthopedics, geriatrics, oncology etc…

(3) Governmental Hospital

They are owned, administered and controlled by the government. They provide free care for
patients. The governmental hospitals are owned by;
 The Ministry of Health
 The University
A public or Governmental hospital is a hospital which is owned by a government and
receives government funding. In some countries, this type of hospital provides medical care
free of charge, the cost of which is covered by government reimbursement.

(4) Semi Government Hospital

Hospitals run both by government and private entity.
Eg. Cantt Board Hospital

About the Multispecialty Hospital:-

9
Well multi means many. It means that they offer more than two special treatments in their
hospitals. They have high quality doctors. In many countries, “Multi specialty hospitals”
exist. Thereafter, other smaller hospitals and institutions followed suit.
Multi-specialty hospitals have a special features for the patients than other hospitals. These
hospitals are founded by private business tycoons and are mostly used by the richer section of
the society.
A Multi-specialty clinic is one in which doctors share facilities, administration, income and
expenses, support staff and equipment. Doctors can specialize in related medical practices or
provide a wide range of specialties.

related to teeth and much more they are the one stop for all problem you have to get solved.

Multi- Specialty Hospital is the hospital which has all the different branches of Medicine and
surgery under one roof.

10
GROWTH OF MUTISPECIALTY HOSPITAL

 Multispecialty hospital has brought down its debt significantly with the help of
operational improvement at its new facilities the firm, which went public this year, is
betting on its new hospitals that are expected to come up across three Indian cities.
Founded by cardiologist Dr. Devi Shetty, the firm plans to open four hospitals in the
next three years and ramp up its occupancy rate from 54% at present.

 Indian healthcare sector stood as the 4th largest employer in FY17, with a total
319,780 employed people. By 2020, it is expected for the segment to generate around
40 million jobs and by 2022, the healthcare market is expected to increase threefold
i.e. US$ 133.44 billion.

 The segment in which India is experiencing great growth and future is the R&D
department because in India the cost of clinic research is relatively low than the
international market.

 The other segments such as EHR, better diagnostic facilities and medical imaging are
also expecting great future and growth due to adoption of new technology and
awareness of the same.

 The online data recording portals are decreasing the paperwork for the hospitals and
nursing homes, from data storing to monitoring of the patients, everything is easily
managed with the use of digital applications and devices.

 These segments are growing huge because of government’s initiative of spending

capital for uplifting the country’s medical profile along with the rising income of the
people and their greater awareness of personal and family hygiene. The medical
imaging is experiencing the fastest growth comparing to all the healthcare segments in
India.

 The hard and soft hospital segments are having considerable development such

as the diagnostics technology and tools, pharmaceutical, R&D, medical imaging,
EHR, telemedicine, medical insurance, etc…

11
 The other notable trends in the hospital infrastructure are luxury facilities being
offered by the hospitals (pick and drop service through helicopters), mobile based
technology delivery, health and medical insurance etc.

 The medical tourism in India is playing a key role for the hospital infrastructure
and development.
 It is undoubtedly one of the new growth factors for the India’s growth sector because
treatment and surgeries at Indian hospitals cost 20% of the total treatment cost in
other countries like USA and UK.

 With the impressive growth factors, it is expected for Indian hospital

infrastructure market to reach 200 billion  because of the rising health
awareness and rising incomes of the Indian citizens.

GROWTH OF MUTISPECIALTY HOSPITAL CULTURE

12
 Currently, there has been a lot of new developments and progress in the Indian
hospital infrastructure. In India, government plays an important role in the progress
and development of successful hospital architecture.

 Apart from the great disparity in the availability of the percentage of population and
doctors, the Indian hospital infrastructure and healthcare facilities have made
sustainable progress in the last many years. On an average, there are around 1, 96,312
hospitals operating in the country.

 The public or government hospitals in India are taking care of the secondary and
tertiary care facilities being a provider whereas the private hospitals run a majority of
the secondary, tertiary and quaternary care facilities.

 The Indian healthcare industry is huge and is now one of the largest sectors in terms
of employment and revenue.

 Indian healthcare facilities have been improved for many years. Either it is a rural or
urban hospital, since the last few years, there has been a huge development in the
hospital infrastructure and facilities. Because of major healthcare and hospital
infrastructure developments, a common Indian citizen has access to all the major
healthcare services including ICU on wheels.

 If we compare the public medical healthcare organizations of India from 2000 to

2014, the government has shown 370% of healthcare expenditure increase. The recent
developments in the Indian healthcare infrastructure have helped with increased
demand due to the rising income level of the citizens.

 It has also created attractive opportunities for the doctors as well as the patients by
developing India as a global medical hub.

13
 Moreover, with an aim to support the private segments with reduced and flexible tax
policy, the Indian healthcare segment has resulted in affordability of the services and
treatments. The cons are the competitive rivalry i.e. low bargaining power of
customers and high bargaining power of suppliers along with the incorrect utilization
of the resources and skills. Also, there are fewer numbers of doctors, nurses and
hospital beds against the number of patients.

 Though the Indian government has increased the healthcare expenditure from the last
few years, it is still ranked the lowest as per the BRICS countries evaluation and this
is the biggest challenge being faced by the country for offering better hospital
infrastructure and services to the citizens. Supply of the healthcare is the biggest
challenge.

 The different segments are taking place for helping the Indian hospital infrastructure
to improve on the grounds of quality and facilities such as the adaption of new
technologies, awareness of the lifestyle diseases, supporting private hospitals via
reduction of taxes, telemedicine and digital technology concepts for improving
medical services, e-hospital project approvals, etc.
 The long-term outlook for the hospital sector is stable with annual revenues
likely to grow at 12-14 per cent over the next five years on rising demand and
medical tourism rating agency said today.

(3) COLLECTION OF DATA

The data collection starts when research problems have been defined property. There are mainly 2
types of data.

28
Primary Secondary
Data Data

Primary Data:-

Primary data are those data, which collected for the first time and this happen to be the
original in character.
Particularly in case of big inquiries, primary data are collected either
through experience of survey. I have collected data from the questionnaire method. The main
purpose of the questionnaire is to read and understand the questionnaire and write-down
reply. The questionnaire is considered as the heart of survey option but it can be only used
when the respondent is well educated and knowledgeable. In our survey the tools for the data
collection was the questionnaire.

Secondary Data :-

Secondary data means those data which have already been collected and used by someone
else and which have already been passed through the statistical process.

29
The researcher has also collected the secondary data by means of the documentary sources
such
as:
A. Company records

B. Website

C. Magazine

D. Journals

For this research work I have used questionnaire method. In this method questionnaire is send
to the person concerned with a request to the person to answer the question and return the
questionnaire. This method is widely used in various economic and business surveys.

 Data collection techniques:-

30
Quality of data depends on method and techniques used for data collection. Therefore, a
researcher should be select appropriate data collection techniques or method. Selection of any
data collection techniques depends on various factor such as objectives of study, type of the
problem, types of information needed, times, costs, sources of data etc. There are four
techniques for collecting primary data like:-

Survey method

Observation method

Experimental method

Panel method

From the above method techniques, survey method is used in my study.

Survey means a systematic gathering of data from respondent through questionnaires.

Therefore it is also known as questionnaire method. It is the most popular and widely used
method. It is also serves as the most common type of quantitative research. Generally, the
techniques used in survey contains, interview, schedule and questionnaire.

 Population of study:-

The accessible population is the population in research to which the research to which the
researches can apply their conclusion. The population is a subset of the target population and

31
is known as the study population. It is from the accessible population that researches draw
their samples.

 Sample unit:-

A sample unit is a portion of population which is examining with a view to estimating

features of the population. The sample unit is the basic unit containing the elements of the
population to be sampled.

selecting and using a sample statistics to draw an interface about a population based on a
subset of it. Mainly there are two type of hypothesis.

H y p o t h e s is
Null hypothesis

Alternative
hypothesis

(1) NULL HYPOTHESIS – A statistical hypothesis which is started for the purpose of
possible acceptance is called Null Hypothesis. It can be expressed as Ho.

(2) ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS – Any hypothesis which is complementary to the null

hypothesis is called an Alternative Hypothesis. It is usually symbol as a H1 or Ha.

In my report question number 5 selected as a hypothesis question. For this we select Z –

TEST single proportion for evaluation.
Ho – there is more than 50% employees are satisfied with working condition at
multispecialty hospital.
H1 – less than 50% employees are not satisfied with working condition at multispecialty
hospital.

TESTING OF HYPOTHESIS

48
Z- Test Single Proportion

1) Setting the Hypothesis:-

Ho: There is more than 50% employees are not satisfied with working condition at
multispecialty hospital.

H0: P= 0.5

H1: less than 50% employees are satisfied with working condition at multispecialty hospital.

H1: P>0.5

2) Level of Significance:-

The level of significance at 5% Z=1.64

3) Calculation of Test Statistics:-

P = 09
50
= 0.18

49
Q=1-P
= 1 - 0.18
= 0.82

p = 41
50
= 0.82

│Z│ = p–P
PQ

= 0.82 – 0.18

0.18 × 0.82
50
= 0.64
0.05
= 12.8

4) Conclusion:-

│Z│ > 1.64

12.8 > 1.64

So, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Less than 50% employees are satisfied with working
condition at multispecialty hospital.
