Interview and History taking:
1. Know the general principles of psychiatric interview.
2. Know the process of conducting the psychiatric interview.
3. Know the elements of the initial psychiatric interview (identifying
data, source and reliability, chief complaint, history of present
illness, past psychiatric history, substance use, abuse and addiction,
past medical history, family history, developmental and social
history, review of systems, mental status examination and physical
examination)
4. Know the techniques of conducting the psychiatric interview
(facilitating interview, nonverbal communication, expanding
intervention, obstructive interview, closing of the interview and
motivational interviewing)

disorders:
1. Know the different types of substance use disorders (alcohol,
caffeine, cannabis, hallucinogens, stimulants, sedatives, opioids,
inhalants, tobacco, other substances) and other addictive disorders
(ex: gambling)
2. Know the epidemiology and etiology of substance use disorders
3. Know how to diagnose a substance use disorder and to classify it as
mild, moderate or severe.
4. Know the symptomatology of the different types of substance use
disorders, specifically what to expect during intoxication,
withdrawal, and other substance induced disorders.

• Please refer to the PDF containing your schedule for
your whole rotation, take note of the preceptor in
charge of the topic and the deadlines set.

• All communications will be coursed through


telegram, hence it is important for you to check the
chat group daily.
• It is your responsibility to ensure your internet
connection and making sure your
cellphones/laptops/tablets are working and are
compatible with zoom and DMSF iLearn
• Technical issues on your end will NOT be
excused.

• To give consideration to signal issues, we will


announce the date and time of all activities and
give you ample time to pass your reports. So late
submissions will not be considered.
• Be online at least 30 mins prior to each set
activity.

• Attendance is part of your grade and you can incur

• Keep ALL your original handwritten reports


as you will be asked to pass these to
DMSF.
HANDWRITTEN REPORTS

• All reports should be handwritten on a


short bond paper. Handwritings should be
neat and readable.
• Names, roll numbers and rotation period
must be written on the upper right hand
corner of the paper.
• Use black or blue ball pen only.
HANDWRITTEN REPORTS
• No copying from classmates or verbatim copying from
the internet or book. In short, the answers must be in
your own words. Anyone not following this will get
a zero for the copied report.
• Scan or take a CLEAR picture of your work for
sending. We recommend using camscanner app for
those without scanners.
• You will be informed by the preceptor in charge of the
topic whether he/she will ask you to send through a
private message on telegram or via e-mail, or other
means of communication.
HANDWRITTEN REPORTS
• Double check what you have sent. Sending to
the wrong email/wrong chat group/or
sending a corrupted file will not be excused.
• Aside from doing an essay, you may
enumerate, draw a graph or write a table, as
long as you are able to explain the answer.
• Submitting past the deadline will be
considered absent.
• Always clarify with the preceptor assigned to
each topic regarding the details of submission.

Zoom meetings:
You will be given time to log in 15 mins before
the set schedule, please log in ahead of the set
schedule as you will not be allowed to log in
late.

Oral Exam on history taking and MSE

- To be done on the last WEEK of the


rotation, time will be set by the
preceptor in charge, use zoom to be
set by secretary in charge

Post test

• Coverage is all topics relating to
psychiatry
• Dr. Ancheta will give you further
instructions prior to the post test
