I don’t know with all the disturbing things going on around the world should I even be

talking about this bullshit show or not. Well, I am going to. I don’t even know where to begin
with. So, I watched ’13 reasons why’ few weeks back. And somehow it was brought up
again, so I decided to write a little about it. It sucked, it sucked bad. See, if you love the show
please do not justify to me that it is a great one, because it is not, my opinion will remain
unchanged.
Okay, so there is this girl, though the show is far from the reality and practicability, still let’s
all suppose that there was a girl who had 13 core wrenching experiences that somehow
pushed her to the verge of committing suicide. Now, is suicide a joke or what? I mean you
are there with your broken soul, your spirit is all dead, ready to end your life but you still
somehow managed all the shit so damn effortlessly. From getting all the requisites for the
suicide plan, the cassettes, the blue nail paint, the blade you're going to use to slit your wrists
with, the mic and shit, to getting through without even getting caught for making a plan so
flawlessly drawn out. I mean seriously, would you look at those mistake less maps she had
made and that too, all alone and we are talking about a 17 year old girl who got depressed
because a guy stole compliments from her compliment box (what the hell is compliment box
anyway?). I never knew that suicide is something that has to be planned out beforehand like a
vacation or a baby. Like, was it portrayed in the show that if you don't have friends or the guy
you like is not there for you more often or you are being slut shamed or you're abandoned by
your friends and all the things that happened to Hannah Baker, are you supposed to commit
suicide? That should be the last resort for you? Suicide should not be an option! So okay, this
girl, Hannah Baker, kept whining about how she didn't have any friends but she made friends
every day. Plus, everyone knows that no one at school is so fucking special that everything
revolves around them. I mean literally in the series everything was about her, yes I get it, she
was the protagonist, but in real life that hardly happens. Every guy of the basketball team was
after her, she used to attend all the parties and stuff, 2 guys were in love with her, she was the
only girl ever who got slut shamed at Liberty High.

So, I’ll tell you know everything stupid I found in each episode, I am on vacations, so yes, I
have got a lot of time.

Tape 1 Side A-
This girl Kat who Hannah claimed as her best friend in the first episode itself was in a
relationship with Justin Foley who was a bad guy, right? But in spite of being in a
relationship with this guy Kat could not tell Hannah if he was an ass. And he was indeed, as
we all know what he did. She introduced Justin as “sweet idiots”, I remember. Boy, if he was
sweet, I don’t need sweet guys in my life. Plus, I get it, he clicked an inappropriate picture of
Hannah which led to Bryce circulating the picture around, I am not going to justify the whole
thing, it should not have happened I know. But afterwards she kind of moved on and it was
behind her, I do not see why this incident still was on her tape. I guess, because everything
else was so logical, right?

Tape 1 side B-
So this was Jessica’s tape. Okay yes, Jessica, Alex and Hannah became good friends but
somehow out of the blue Jessica got this epiphany that if she and Hannah would be friends,
Alex might drift off towards Hannah as Jessica and Alex started dating, leaving her all alone.
Again Jessica, as we know, used to get a lot of sudden realizations got paranoid thinking that
Alex had broken up with her because of Hannah and Jessica then slapped her. So, she was on
the tape. I mean, whaaaaaat?

Tape 2 Side A-
It was about that golden haired weird kid who wore weird nose ring and looked all weird. So
this guy Alex, he got a girlfriend and abandoned his friend, what was so wrong in that. People
do that all the time. And yeah, he made a list saying Hannah Baker had the sexiest bum to
make Jessica jealous and I know it was a bit offending, Hannah could have complained or
confronted him but including him on this list just because of this, seriously?

Tape 2 Side B-
I mean this kid Tyler was so damn into the yearbook that he could go to any extent for getting
the pictures even if it meant for him to stalking a person. So he used to stalk Hannah and tried
taking picture of her changing, psychopath much? It got me there, when I heard him say that
he was in love with Hannah Baker, I lost my shit, not kidding. Hello? If you are in love with
someone you do not circulate pictures of them making out. I can’t even.. Actually I was glad
that this guy was on the tape, I didn’t like his face.

Tape 3 Side A-
I got to say, this girl was bad. Courtney should not have said what she did. Though she had
her reasons, but it was wrong, I get it. People hear all sorts of rumours all day long this could
have been one of them. Plus, Courtney was not even that close to Hannah, they hung out one
time at that night. Who the hell would have believed her? And there are new rumours pouring
up every day in high school. But everything had to be about Hannah at the end of the day. I
mean there were other girls too, right?

Tape 3 Side B-
I know this guy was who tried to sexually assault Hannah Baker was an ass. What I did not
like was her not standing up for herself and being all weak sitting there crying, seriously? Not
even a complaint or confrontation afterwards? How could you portray in a show, such a weak
image of a girl? As much as he deserved to be on the tape, he was worthy of a slap in public.
She kept quiet when Bryce touched her bum and then after this too. Come on, you need to
speak!

Tape 4 Side A-
I seriously do not know why this poor guy was on one of the tapes. All he did was to steal
Hannah’s compliments from her compliment box. So I don’t even..

Tape 4 Side B-
Okay, this Ryan guy published her poem which was a good one. People recognized her
handwriting and laughed about it. So what? Why even get bothered by such narrow-minded,
shallow-hearted people who cannot even understand what you want to convey through your
writings and those people are not even your friends. There were those people making fun of
her she already knew were pricks. Plus, the people from book club really liked her poem and
she got the appreciation what then? I will be really careful before publishing someone’s
work, I mean I could end up on a suicide tape someday. Poor Ryan!

Tape 5 side A-
Things got really serious after this tape huh? I mean she was so drunk that she could not
gather herself to do something about the whole situation, but somehow she was sane enough
to know everything, every single detail of the incident that happened and was able to blurt it
out on her tape. She blamed Jessica as one of the reasons why she had committed suicide and
yet Hannah was the one who saw Bryce raping Jessica and chose not to do anything about it
except for saying it out on her tape. Even after this, she included Jessica on her tapes, I mean
hadn’t the girl been through enough already? Who is the real bitch here? She blamed Bryce
for raping Jessica, yes he was a fucking bastard. She blamed Justin for letting Bryce rape
Jessica, yes he was a fucking bastard too. And Hannah watched Jessica getting raped by him
and did not do anything, she could have thrown a vase over his head or done anything else
but to watch the whole thing, really and trying to get away as if it was not her fault at all? I
could not swallow something like that.

Tape 5 Side B-
Okay, everything that happened on this tape was very tragic. Jeff died because Sheri Knocked
down the STOP sign. Okay. Very sad. But how Sheri and this whole incident became a
reason for Hannah to commit suicide. It was Sheri’s fault, she was already living in guilt,
helping out the other person who got injured in the accident. I do not get it how the whole
accident was all the more scarring for Hannah than Sheri. Why Hannah why?

Tape 6 Side A-
So, it was the tape of our hero on the bicycle. This guy was so damn lazy, he could not get
himself to finish the whole damn thing in one sitting. If I could sit through the whole 13
episodes of this show, which was more painful, he could have at least listened to those 13
tapes. And Hannah could have just given him a heads up, “Clay you are not at fault, I am just
messing with ya.” No, she made him suffer like everyone else. I mean the kid got a perpetual
bruise on his forehead that never healed and he started acting mentally ill. I do not even know
why he was on the tape, I kind of phased out watching this one. So, moving on.

Tape 7 Side B-
Even after watching this episode, I could not agree to the whole suicide incident. I am a
feminist. No one wants to see a rapist suffer more than I do, but was this right? And killing
yourself, how about that? When a girl gets raped, it is not her fault. It is always the one raping
is at fault. Some tough questions, before deciding to end her life did Hannah tried telling her
parents about this? No. Did she report the incident to the police authority? No. Did she want
to involve police or her parents in this? No. Did she want to see Bryce behind the bar? Yes. I
do not even know how or why or what. Yes, if a girl does not consent you to make physical
relations with her, you do not have to touch her at all in anyway. But if a guy tries to touch
you inappropriately, you need to say no and push him away or punch him if needed. Do not
wait for anything. Just resist! Plus, I don’t even know why she was at that party. She sat with
Justin, Jessica and Zach in the same hot tub, it was fine with her at that time. That moment
she had already forgiven them then why the hell they were one of the reasons. Maybe not
forgiven but she was all okay with them sitting with her. I mean one day at a party you are
chilling out with some people and the next day you kill yourself and state their names as one
of the reasons why you died. Plus, Hannah lost some cash her father gave it to her for some
reason, did not pay attention why or how she lost it, don’t care. So expectedly her parents got
upset with her and only her mother scolded her a bit and the father was trying to calm things
down. And she says on the tape, “I realized, I was letting everyone down”. Give me a
freaking break! My mother slapped me yesterday for taking a tone with her, now I should
hold the grudge and say I am letting everyone down and get depressed about it? Really?

Tape 8 Side A-
This therapy guy tried to help Hannah. He listened to her talk about everything that she said.
He even suggested Hannah if she wanted to involve police and her parents in this, to which,
she replied with a no. He wanted to know the guy’s name who raped her. She did not tell him
the name. She put a condition before him that she wanted to see that guy in jail and never
wanted to face him again. I mean how could a therapy teacher would know that if a guy will
or will not end up in jail only knowing a little detail of a certain incident. And she really was
hoping that Mr Porter would follow her, what made her think that? The guy was dealing with
messed up, depressed and suicidal teenagers all day and then going home to his 2 infant
children and a pushy wife, wasn’t that enough? Couldn’t she cut him a slack? Mentioning
him as one of the reasons why she killed herself was something too far from my level of
understanding.

Umm, that was it from the episodes.

This Hannah Baker girl was like I am all alone, I have got no friends blah. If she could
entrust Tony with her tapes, who by the way owned the petrol and diesel company, why
couldn’t she make friends with him? And Tony in return could have gone to police and he
should have done something to try and provide justice to this girl. I could never understand
his character, I mean why was he even there on the show? To ride his smartass red car all day
probably?

Justin Foley actually had a pretty tough life. His mother did not love him. His mother’s
boyfriend kept mistreating him with his mother standing there and not saying anything. So it
is psychological fact that I remember, if a guy does not have a loving mother-figure growing
up, he tends to disrespect womankind. Just something I read somewhere, does not need to be
true. And this guy still hung out with the guy who raped her girlfriend, wow. Something I
forgot to mention earlier.
Why the girl with tattoos was there? Why?
