Congratulations on your purchase of the Rocktron Power Station™. The Power Station™ will
allow you to eliminate the cluttered power strips and wall adapters from the back of your rack by
offering four IEC auxiliary connections and 6 isolated 9VAC, 2A taps to power your equipment.
The Power Station™ features:
- Six tap, UL recognized toroidal transformer providing six isolated 9VAC, 2 amp outputs.
~ Input line voltage selector switch.
- Four switchable, fused line voltage outlets.
= Electrical spike protection.
- Single On/Off switch with "ON" LED.
- Detachable line cord.
- Extra durable, road worthy chassis.
For a thorough explanation of the Power Station™ and its functions, please read this manual
carefully and keep it for future reference.
After removing the Power Station™ from the box, save all packing materials in case it becomes
necessary to ship the unit.
Operating Temperature
Donot expose this unit to excessive heat. This unit is designed to operate between 32° F and 104°
F (0° Cand 40°C). This unit may not function properly under extreme temperatures.Precautions
NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS SECTION TO PROVIDE YEARS OF
TROUBLE FREE USE. THIS UNIT REQUIRES CAREFUL HANDLING.
All warnings on this equipment and in the operating instructions should be adhered to and all
operating instructions should be followed.
Do not use this equipment near water. Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liq-
uids are not spilled into the unit through any openings.
The power cord should be unplugged from the outlet when left unused for a long period of time.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SERVICE THIS EQUIPMENT. THIS EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE SERVICED
BY QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL ONLY. DO NOT MAKE ANY INTERNAL ADJUSTMENTS
OR ADDITIONS TO THIS EQUIPMENT AT ANY TIME. DO NOT TAMPER WITH INTERNAL
ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS AT ANY TIME. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS
MAY VOID THE WARRANTY OF THIS EQUIPMENT, AS WELL AS CAUSING SHOCK HAZARD.
ALWAYS disconnect power to the Power
Station™ before attempting to change fuses.
ALWAYS replace with the same type fuse.
The voltage select switch DOES NOT change the voltage of the auxiliary outlets.
The voltage of the auxiliary outlets will be the same as the incoming line voltage.
DONOT change the Voltage Select switch with the power on.
Connect all cords BEFORE applying power.REAR PANEL
1. 9VAC, 2 amp Output jacks (6):
‘These 2.5mm male pin jacks provide isolated power to devices requiring 9VAC and up
to two amps to operate.
2. Input Line Voltage Select switch:
This switch allows the Power Station to provide the 9VAC outputs at an input voltage of
"115" VAC or "230" VAC. In the United States, Canada, Japan and all other countries which
provide a line voltage of 100 to 120 volts, this switch should be set at "115". In countries such as
Germany, France and Finland which provide a line voltage of 220 to 240 volts, the "230" setting
should be used.
‘Warning: The voltage select switch DOES NOT change the voltage of the auxiliary outlets.
The voltage of the auxiliary outlets will be the same as the incoming line voltage.
3. Isolated Outputs Fuse holder:
This fuse holder contains the fuse for the primary side of the transformer that provides
the six isolated 9VAC outputs. When replacing this fuse, always replace with the same type fuse.
4. Auxiliary Line Voltage outlets (4):
These four female IEC320 international power connectors provide additional line voltage
outputs to other devices in your rack which require it. This output voltage is identical to the line
voltage that the Power Station™ is plugged into. Note: The Input Line Voltage Select switch does
not affect the voltage provided at these outputs.
5. Line Cord Connector:
This male IEC connector is used to power the Power Station™ via the line cord provided.
6. Mains Fuse holder:
This holder houses the mains fuse for the Power Station™ and can be accessed by
removing the line cord and popping off the fuse holder cover. A second fuse may also be stored
in this holder. When replacing this fuse, always replace with the same type fuse.
3FEATURES IN DETAIL
Toroidal Transformer
The Power Station™ is equipped with a UL recognized toroidal transformer that has six isolated secon-
dary windings to provide six isolated, low voltage outputs rated at 9 VAC, 2 Amps each. The isolation
between outputs helps prevent ground loop problems.
The transformer primary windings are fused with a 1.5 amp, 250 volt fuse when plugged into
115 VAC input line voltage and a .75 amp, 250 volt fuse when plugged into 230 VAC input line voltage.
This fuse is accessable to the user (it is located in the middle of the back panel) and can be accessed using
a standard screwdriver or coin.
WARNING! ALWAYS disconnect power to the Power
Station™ before attempting to change fuses.
ALWAYS replace with the same type fuse.
Input Line Voltage Select Switch
The voltage select switch allows the Power Station™ to provide the 9VAC outputs at line volt-
ages of 115VAC or 230VAC. If an incoming line voltage is 115VAC, simply select the switch setting that
displays "115". For an incoming line voltage of 230VAC, select the "230" setting.
‘The "115" setting is suitable for line voltages ranging from 90VAC to 128VAC at 50 or 60Hz fre-
quency. The "230" setting is suitable for line voltages ranging from 198VAC to 264VAC at 50 or 60Hz
frequency.
WARNING! The voltage select switch DOES NOT change the voltage of the auxiliary outlets.
The voltage of the auxiliary outlets will be the same as the incoming line voltage.
DO NOT change the voltage select switch with the power on.Switchable, fused Line Voltage Outlets (4):
‘There are four auxilary switchable outlets available on the Power Station™, These outlets are
female IEC 320 international power connectors. The On/Off switch on the front panel of the Power
Station will switch the outlets on and off. These outlets are also fused by the mains fuse located next to
the input power cord connector. To access the fuse, disconnect the power cord and use a small screw-
driver to pry the fuse holder out. A second fuse may be stored in the fuse holder also.
WARNING! ALWAYS disconnect power to the Power
Station™ before attempting to change fuses.
ALWAYS replace with the same type fuse.
The voltage select switch DOES NOT change the voltage of the auxiliary outlets. The voltage of
the auxiliary outlets will be the same as the incoming line voltage.
Single On/Off Switch with "ON" LED
The On/Off switch will turn all auxiliary outlets and isolated outputs on and off. The "POWER"
LED will light if isolated and auxiliary outputs are on.
WARNING! Connect all cords BEFORE applying power.AVAILABLE CONNECTOR CORDS
WARNING: CONNECT ALL CORDS BEFORE APPLYING POWER!
