or to read it themselves. If downloaded on an iPad or a Tablet, children can also record their reading.
To access the material, you need to create an account. Go to: www.boukili.ca and answer the prompted questions.
Once your account has been created, sign in and log in to access books on-line.

We can teach children about a There are three things to

You may ask your child questions to deepen their understanding of text. Remember the goal is to talk about the
book. Here are some examples:
 How do you think the character is feeling? How can you tell?
 Choose an illustration from the book and explain it.
 Which character is most like you? Tell me more.
 Tell me about the story/book and what you learned.
 Is the title a good choice for the book? Why? Why not?
 Were you happy with the ending? Why? Why not?

Follow-up activities:
o Collect plastic bottles, glass bottles and cans from your home. Try to count them and put
them in categories. Estimate/calculate how much money you will get if you bring them
to the recycle center. (plastic bottle = 0.05$ and glass bottle = 0.10$)
o Create a bar graph with the number of cans, plastic and glass bottles.
o Collect any recycled items from your home (boxes, paper towel rolls, cans) and build a
superhero. Present your superhero to your family, friends, grandparents via Messenger,
Facetime. What is your hero’s superpower? Can you think of something else to build
using recycled items?
o Find innovative ways for you and your family to reduce the use of plastic in your
household.

Suggested reading: La clé de la santé (level 4)

Follow-up activities:
 Ask your child a few comprehension questions to deepen their understanding. (see
