I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Jane Doe. I have had the pleasure
of knowing Jane Doe for the past four years and could not recommend a better student for your
institution. Through these past four years, I have witnessed Jane grow into a vivacious young
woman who is determined, hard-working and passionate about her schooling, family, and
community. Jane’s character has allowed her to excel at balancing the rigor of schooling,
extracurricular activities, the demands of her part time employment and the commitment to her
parents of providing childcare for her younger siblings. On top of all of this, Jane is a dedicated
and accomplished pianist. Jane is not only a role model student, but she is a role model in all
other aspects of her life as well.
Since the young age of eleven years old, Jane has been a pianist. She has taken private
lessons weekly and has always stayed committed to the advancement of her musical talents. For
Jane, playing the piano is a central focus of her life and is a passion that she highly enjoys.
Through the years, she has played multiple recitals and has gotten numerous awards for her
musical talent. Not only is Jane an experienced pianist, but she also gives back to her community
by serving as a mentor to younger musicians. In this role, she helps her mentees reach their full
potential musically. As evidenced, Jane has a strong level of commitment and dedication that is
unwavering and is far beyond her young age of seventeen years old.
Jane strongly believes in leading a well-rounded life. Not only does she find time to
dedicate to her musical studies, Jane is a committed daughter, always assisting her parents with
childcare based on their unconventional work schedules. On top of these commitments and the
extracurricular activities that she participates in, Jane still finds the time to work between twenty-
five and thirty-five hours per week, all while still making the honor roll. I am truly in awe of
Jane. She continuously handles a heavy schedule with both a great attitude and poise. From her
active participation in her various commitments, Jane has contributed a great deal of herself in
every aspects of her life and continuous to surpass what is expected of her.
Jane’s level of commitment and dedication is noticeable in all aspects of her life. As
demonstrated in her accomplishments and in her daily life, Jane is not one to shy away from
challenges. Instead, Jane faces them with determination and is embracive of them. And, because
of this, I could not think of a better student to recommend to thrive at your institution. I look
forward to seeing the many great adventures that Jane has in store for her and the wonderful
