To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I write this recommendation for Mary Nemec, who was a student in my Fall 2019 EDU
405 and 406 classes—Teaching Literacy in Inclusive Educational Settings Grades Pre-K through 6. Mary is one of
fifteen interns participating in the year-long, nationally recognized Helen R. Johnson Fredonia-Hamburg Internship
Program. This program provides teacher interns a setting in which they can immediately apply what they learn in
methods classes to an authentic classroom setting. During the first semester she carried a full load of methods
classes while student teaching three days a week. During the second semester she completed an additional
classroom experience and had the opportunity to do some online learning with students until her student teaching
assignment was suspended due the COVID-19 crisis.

Mary is a hard-working, curious, and conscientious student. She is very interested in learning all she can about
children and their development. She successfully demonstrated her knowledge of literacy through class
discussions and assignments. Her leadership skills were frequently observed as she worked along with her peers.
Throughout the semester she displayed a high level of organization and commitment to assignments and her
student teaching obligations. She has a strong understanding of literacy and developed thoughtful, effective
lesson plans with student needs in mind. Her presentations were well-planned, based on educational research,
and creative.

Throughout her years of study and the advantage of her current program she has had the opportunity to be
actively engaged with young students and to put her learning into action. Mary is very insightful when reflecting
on her own teaching and strives to make adjustments that benefit her students. She consistently shows her
concern, caring, and desire to help students be successful.

Mary is an intelligent and articulate young woman who has a genuine enthusiasm for learning and teaching. It is
without reservation that I recommend Mary Nemec to you. She will be a credit to any faculty and a contributing
member to the school community. Most importantly she will be an excellent teacher for her students.

Sincerely,
