To Whom It May Concern,

It is my pleasure to recommend to you Miss Mary Nemec. Miss Nemec has been an exceptional
teacher candidate in the Helen Johnson Hamburg-Fredonia Internship Program at SUNY Fredonia.
I have served as her Clinical Field Supervisor for one student teaching semester. This placement
was for sixteen weeks in a 3rd grade classroom from September 4, 2019 until December 20, 2019.
Miss Nemec attended Methods classes at Fredonia for two days a week and taught at Boston Valley
School in Hamburg for the remaining three days a week.

I observed Miss Nemec three times during this placement where she taught all subjects, effectively
managed small and large groups and used positive reinforcement to recognize positive behaviors.
Miss Nemec consistently planned and carried out creative and child centered lessons. She worked
hard to provide for all students’ needs, using differentiated instruction in this blended classroom. She
looked for ways to challenge students with critical thinking and problem solving activities. She was able
to engage her students with her use of technology, cooperative learning techniques, and hands on
learning activities. Her calm and caring teaching style is like that of a seasoned teacher.

One of Miss Nemec’s strengths is her connection with her students. She prided herself on getting to
know their interests and behaviors. She was always circulating around during her lesson and made it
a point to stop and connect with each student, giving eye contact and a smile to encourage them. It
was very special to watch.

Miss Nemec has been very involved with planning and sharing with her grade level colleagues and
others in the faculty. She had the opportunity to meet with parents and attend various workshops. She
also was the student representative on the Hamburg-Fredonia Steering Committee. She is comfortable
taking on leadership roles and working in a group.

I strongly recommend Miss Nemec, without reservation, for any elementary teaching position. Her
organization, work ethic, professionalism and commitment to education will make her an asset to your
faculty. If you should need any additional information regarding Miss Nemec”s fine attributes, please do
not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Alison Russo
