To Whom It May Concern:

I am happy to recommend Amanda Caudill for a PreK - 5th Grade teaching position.  I am a faculty
member and faculty advisor in the Education and Society Department at Miami University Regionals.
Amanda was a student in four of my classes: EDT 242P Phonics and Literacy, EDT 272P Introduction of
Childhood Development and Education, EDT 246P Reading, Language, and Literacy, and EDT 315P
Children’s Literature for PK-5.  I taught Amanda during the Covid19 pandemic, so our classes included
online synchronous and asynchronous formats. I was also Amanda’s faculty advisor.

Amanda was a top student in my classes and made an impression for her leadership, thoughtful teamwork
with classmates, insight into children, and devotion to the field of education. Amanda brings years of
experience as an educational aide and as a mother with her on her journey to becoming a teacher. My
classes included many lesson-planning assignments and Amanda’s were always creative, hands-on, and
engaging for children. I remember her incorporating cross-curricular learning into lessons, weaving
economics, math, and literacy together. She incorporated cooking into a nonfiction reading lesson. She
consistently put student engagement as a priority when planning her teaching. Her book choices for read-
aloud showed a clear interest in creating an inclusive, equitable experience for her students. Her writing
for my classes indicated the value she places on creating a culturally relevant classroom.

Amanda’s academic work was always high quality. She has maintained outstanding grades. When she
was my student, she was always collaborative with her classmates and was comfortable taking the
leadership role within small groups as well. This was not easy, especially during the pandemic, but she
led group projects with understanding and empathy for her younger classmates. She also helped provide
teacher contacts for classmates to interview teachers for alternate field experiences since we were unable
to go out into schools. Amanda showed the type of caring spirit for her classmates that all teachers should
have for their colleagues.

I feel strongly that Amanda will make an outstanding teacher and will become a valuable member of the
teaching profession. I give her my enthusiastic recommendation because she stands out among her
classmates for her dedication to the field of primary education and the children she will serve.  If you
