My Perspective About the Inaugural Speech of President Duterte.

As I’ve watched the Inaugural speech of President Duterte, My way of knowing him
has changed. Honestly, just like other people said and also by the influence of the media, I
have seen him as very stern, no morality and cannot speak English professionally. But that
impression of mine has changed.

Today, I realized I was wrong. President Duterte has the most precise, perfect
selection of words (which I can’t believe it) and shortest speech in the history. He was not
that rude at all. Sometimes he says some bad words in the right place for the right time
and most people have done that. He is just who he was and it’s not important at all. The
goal is to have a president that can solve the problems in our country. He can be respectful
when people respect him and vice versa. Because of that speech, I’ve seen him now as a
respectful person. His speech reflects of who he was. His speech was favorable for the
masses. (He even translates some phrases in Bisaya that makes me feel unique about him
and made my family proud.)

The following lines of his speech made him unique and change my perspective;

“I was elected to the presidency to serve the entire country. I was not elected to
serve the interests of any one person or any group or any one class. I serve everyone and
not only one.” And “I have no friends to serve; I have no enemies to harm.”

I’ve come arrived with this perception because of his speech. I cannot make any
perception about him without the speech and the other Inaugural speech of the previous
presidents in our country. Also, with the help of my experiences being a part of the family
who has the same province of President Duterte.
