A Man’s Best Friend

How many of you own, or know of someone who owns a dog? From the world statistics,

dogs are rated the tamest animal, and they have been acquired a position in a man's heart as a

man's best friend. This essay is to explain to you on why a dog is the best pet to own. Dogs are

the best pet because not only do they help people live a healthier lifestyle, they will love you

unconditionally and keep you safe, and are easier to train as compared to other pets.

Those who own dogs improve physically, mentally, and emotionally. There is a smaller

chance of having a heart attack. The company of a dog reduces blood pressure since dogs tend to

reduce stress. Dogs also help some people cope with depression, anxiety, and loneliness. There is

also a high increased exercise level with those who own dogs. There is more structure and a

routine for the daily life. Dogs affect their owners positively.

When a dog is around, people tend to feel more protected and safer in general. Crazy to

think about, but people feel safer when staying in a house alone when a dog is with them. Along

with that statement, people are less tensed when leaving valuable belongings somewhere, and

feel safer when guests are coming into the household. Dog owners feel less anxious when they

are with their dog. Compared to other pets, dogs are a good symbol of loyalty as they have

depicted to their animal and their human friends. For years, dogs have earned the right of being a
man’s best companion. A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he or she loves

itself.

Dogs are the most easily trained pets in the world. They are tamed to offer pleasure and

companionship to their owner. A certain breed of dogs, known as Border Collies, are smart and

don’t get tired of doing the same thing over and over, which makes it easy to train them because

they can repeat the same training. Dogs love training because they love having tasks. Dogs are

very intelligent and eager to please; they can even be motivated to do things by food. Dogs love

being part of a pack and obeying what their human is perceiving.

Dogs are so much different than any other animal. They chose us. While owning a dog

may be gratifying, it is a very big responsibility. Dogs love consistency and crave attention. If

you are gone for more than eight hours daily, a dog may not be the best pet for you. They behave

their best when they are on a schedule. They also need love, companionship, and exercise. From

personal experience though, there are days where I have had class all day then have had to go to

work all night; my dog is still just as excited to see me those nights where I come home late.

There is nothing more heartwarming than hearing her paws come charging at me. I believe

everyone should manage the time to own a pet, there is nothing better.

Dogs are expensive and, you may not be able to afford it. A dog is a massive and long-

term responsibility. On an average, dogs live between eight and twelve years. Veterinary care is

costly and the estimate lifetime cost of owning a dog is around $12,700. That is also only the

basic checkups and needs a dog gets, not including if something were to happen to your dog. Are

you the type of person who is ready to make financial sacrifices for your pet? While some may

not be, I am. My family and I would take any risk for our pet, and I could speak for others on

how they would do the same for their dog.

 Dogs are the best pet because they will help you live a healthier lifestyle, they will love

you more than any person could and will keep you safe, and are proved to be easier to train

compared to other domestic animals. This essay was written to convince you why owning a dog

may be a very big responsibility and costly, they are a man’s best friend and make your daily

routines better not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally. Dogs are rated the tamest

animal. Do you know of someone who owns a dog or own one yourself? There is no better title

than calling my dog my best friend. I feel that if you are willing to make sacrifices for your dog,

you should consider owning one.
