Problem I. The cross sectional area of each member of the truss shown is equal to
400 mm2 and modulus of elasticity is 200 GPa.
a.) Determine the vertical displacement of A when 1000 N
load are applied.
b.) When members AC and AB are subjected to change in
temperature of 20 degree Celsius, find the vertical displacement
of A. Coefficient of thermal expansion = 11.6x10-6/°C
c.) If no loads are applied on the truss, what is the vertical
displacement of A if member AC were 8 mm to long?

Problem II. Refer to the given beam, find the following using E=200 GPa and
I = 500x106 mm4

a.) Vertical displacement of B in mm

b.) Slope at the end of the distributed load in radians

Problem III. The modulus of elasticity of the frame shown is 200 GPa and I= 15 x10 6 mm4.
Determine the following when the loads are applied on the frame.
a.) Vertical displacement at the midspan of AB in mm
b.) Slope at B in radians
