THE PROCEEDING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit - proceeds from the Father

The Son received the glory and all things from the Father (1892- 1898)
The Holy Spirit - proceeds from the Son (1878-1911)
The Holy Spirit - given by Christ, our Mediator (1893-1894)
The Holy Spirit - sent by the Father and the Son

The Holy Spirit - proceeds from the Father

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto
you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from
the Father, he shall testify of me. (KJV)

The Son received the glory and all things from the Father
(1892-1898)

John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be
with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast
given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
(KJV)

Jesus is seeking to impress upon them the thought that in giving his
Holy Spirit he is giving to them the glory which the Father has given
him, that he and his people may be one in God. {ST October 3, 1892,
par. 4} (1892.10.03); {SSW, February 1, 1896 par. 3} (1896.02.01)

Christ impresses upon the mind of believers the fact that they are to
have the glory which the Father has given him, in order that all who
love and serve him may be one with God. “For I have given unto them
the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have
known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that
thou didst send me.... And the glory which thou gavest me I have
given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and
thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world
may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast
loved me.{Lt13-1894 (September 27, 1894) par. 17} (1894.09.27);

All things Christ received from God, but He took to give. So in the
heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings: through the
beloved Son, the Father’s life flows out to all; through the Son it
returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source
of all. And thus through Christ the circuit of beneficence is complete,
representing the character of the great Giver, the law of life. {DA 21.2}

The Holy Spirit - proceeds from the Son (1878-1911)

The Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the only begotten Son of
God, binds the human agent, body, soul, and spirit, to the perfect,
divine-human nature of Christ. This union is represented by the union
of the vine and the branches. Finite man is united to the manhood of
Christ. Through faith human nature is assimilated with Christ’s nature.
We are made one with God in Christ. {RH April 5, 1906, par. 16}
(1906.04.05)

The sap of the vine, ascending from the root, is diffused to the
branches, sustaining growth and producing blossoms and fruit. So the
life-giving power of the Holy Spirit, proceeding from the Saviour,
pervades the soul, renews the motives and affections, and brings even
the thoughts into obedience to the will of God, enabling the receiver to
bear the precious fruit of holy deeds. {AA 284.1} (1911); {RH, August
31, 1911 par. 10} (1911.08.31)

https://egwwritings.org/?ref=en_RH.August.31.1911.par.10&para=821.32219

The juices of the vine, ascending from the root, are diffused to the
branches sustaining growth, and producing blossoms and fruit. So the
life-giving power of the Holy Spirit, proceeding from Christ, and
imparted to every disciple, pervades the soul, renews the motives and
affections, and even the most secret thoughts, and brings forth the
precious fruit of holy deeds. The life attests the union with the true and
living Vine. {3SP 418.2} (1878)

The Holy Spirit - given by Christ, our Mediator (1893-1894)

Christ our Mediator is the One who gives the Holy Spirit. The
atonement made on Calvary is brought in contact with the soul of man
to transform his character and change his nature until it can be said in
heaven, “Ye are laborers together with God, wearing Christ’s yoke,
bearing His burden.” {Lt71-1893 (September 21, 1893) par. 11}
(1893.09.21)
https://egwwritings.org/?ref=en_Lt71-1893.11&para=6086.17

Christ, our Mediator, is the one who gives the Holy Spirit; and by
the office work of the Holy Spirit, the atonement made on Calvary is
brought in contact with the soul of man to transform his character, and
change his nature, until it can be said in heaven, “Ye are laborers
together with God, wearing Christ’s yoke, bearing his burden.” {YI July
5, 1894, par. 6} (1894.07.05)

The Holy Spirit - sent by the Father and the Son

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you:
but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power
from on high. (KJV)

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the
Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring
all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto
you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from
the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I
go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
