WHY AM I PROPOSING TO SOMEONE

IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE?

This document, designed and produced as a fellow to the film

found on this website, has an aim to introduce you to your scenario
and character more personally, more intimately. The film showed you
around the house; this document sits you down and has dinner with
you.

“The vegas proposal was the inspiring scenario/story for this perfor-
mance, and the most common throughout the interviews. The vegas proposal,
and subsequently the vegas wedding, is an undeniably recognisable aspect
of the ‘vegas experience’, whether you live it, see it or hear about it.
This scenario will be the longest of any of the 4 initial scenarios, and
will feature a 3 minute spoken proposal speech.”

In this document you will find a script for the speech, examples of
some of the generated stories which inspired it, details on cos-
tume, a movement catalogue to help you get into character, and a
personal storyboard for your path through the square.

(On the first page of this document are two name labels. These will be
delivered to you in the physical edition of this document, and function
as back-ups should you lose the one mailed to you.)

I can't imagine growing old with anyone else, nor do I want to.
I know you're the only one I want to share the rest of my life
with.
The story of our love is only beginning. Let's write our own happy
ending.
There are many ways to be happy in this life, but all I really
need is you.
When I look into your eyes, I can see a reflection of the two of
us and the life I hope we'll share together.
I know my life will never be complete without you beside me to
share it.
When I look into my heart, I see only you. If you can look into
your heart and only see me, then we should spend the rest of our
lives together.
I promise you, no one will work harder to make you happy or cher-
ish you more than me.
When I think about you, I know that no one else will ever hold my
heart the way you do.
When I think of the future, I like to picture us as two trees
planted side-by-side, our roots growing together more firmly as
the years go by, and our children sprouting like seedlings around
us.
Life offers many challenges. I know I can meet them if you're
willing to face them with me.
When I met you, I knew I'd met my match. It was only a matter of
time until we arrived at this moment. How it turns out is all in
your hands.
You deserve the very best, someone who will back you up without
limits, let you grow without borders, and love you without end.

While embodying this element of the performance, costume will

be relatively low-effort, and won’t be too much trouble to move
aorund in. This offsets the difficulty of movement and speech!

Thats’s it!

Because of the nature of the proposal element and what it

hopes to emulate, costumes are best generated through whatever the
performer thinks they might wear on a day or night out in Vegas,
the same as the real costumes would be decided by the people wear-
ing them, not a separate entity dressing them. This is at odds with
other elements of the performance, which have specific costumes in
keeping with the way that their characters would decide/be told to
dress. Feel free to provide these items yourself, or they will be
provided to you on rehearsal and performance days. If you will be
providing your own, please use the contact information in this doc-
ument.
