Summary

What is CUCET?
Central Universities Common Entrance T est (CUCET ) is an all-India level entrance exam conducted jointly by 14 central universities for admission in UG,
PG, and Ph.D. courses offered in all the participating institutions. T he CUCET is conducted once a year across 120 cities in India. T he exam is conducted in
offline mode (pen & paper) which is of two hours. T he CUCAT 2020 online registration will open from the third week of March, 2020. Candidates who
successfully fill in and submit the CUCAT application form, can avail the CUCAT admit card in the second week of May, 2020. T he CUCET 2020 exam will
be conducted the fourth week of May, 2020. Apart from central universities, Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) is also a participating institute
for the exam. Central University of Rajasthan is the coordinating university for the exam, which invites applications from eligible students each year.

CUCET 2020 Eligibility Criteria


Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by the Central Universities in order to apply and appear for CUCET 2020. T he eligibility criteria for CUCET
2020 are as follows:
For UG: Students will need to have passed class XII from a recognized board to take admission in Bachelor’s degree programmes in the Central
Universities. For General category, the candidate needs to secure a minimum 50 per cent in class XII, for SC/ST , candidates need to have secured a
minimum of 45 per cent in class XII in order to be eligible for the CUCET 2020.
For PG: Candidates applying for a master’s degree must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Candidates applying for admission in
the same field of Bachelor’s or different, need have secured a minimum of 55 per cent (General)/ 50 per cent (SC/ST ) to be eligible for CUCET 2020.
For PhD: Candidates applying for PhD programme must have a Master’s degree for a recognised university or institute to apply for admission in research
programmes. T he candidate needs to have secured a minimum of 55 per cent (Genera)/ 50 per cent (SC/ST ) to be eligible for PhD programmes in the
Central Universities.
Note: If a candidate has cleared UGC-CSIR JRF, GAT E, NBHM or qualified in any other national level examination, they need not appear for the entrance
test. However, the candidate will have to register for CUCET 2020.

CUCET 2020 Admission Process


Step 1: Fill CUCET Application Form
Candidates can fill CUCET 2020 application form in the online mode on the official website of the exam. After the form is filled, candidates can pay CUCET
2020 application fee in the online mode (via debit/credit card) or via SBI Challan.

course options in each institution. In case a candidate wishes to apply at more institutions, he/she can do so by paying the application fee again.

Step 2: Download CUCET Admit Card
Candidates can download their CUCET 2020 admit card from the official website of the exam and take a printout of the same. CUCET admit card is a
mandatory document to be carried to the exam centre.

Step 3: Appear f or CUCET Exam
Next, candidates need to appear for CUCET 2020 exam at the allotted exam centre. CUCET exam will be conducted in three sessions on each day for
different UG and PG courses.

Step 4 : Check CUCET Result
Candidates can check CUCET 2020 result on the official website of the exam. CUCET result will contain the names/ application numbers of candidates
qualifying the entrance exam.

Step 5: Appear f or Interview Round
It may be noted that this step is applicable only for candidates applying for MSc/ MA in Dig ital Society course. T he official website informs, “In the
interview round, candidates may be asked to present their interests for the programme, career objectives, and other academic questions to judge their
suitability into the programme.” T he interview holds 25% weightage in the exam.
Step 6: Appear f or CUCET Counselling
Lastly, candidates need to appear for CUCET 2020 counselling session conducted at each central university separately. T o appear for the counselling
session of a particular university, candidates need to fill the admission form available on the respective university’s official website.
In the counselling session, candidates will be allotted seats in their respective Science courses.

CUCET 2020 Exam Day Guidelines
Candidates appearing for the CUCET 2020 exam must read the exam day instructions mentioned on the admit card carefully. Candidates should also not
forget to carry the below-mentioned documents to the allotted test centre on the day of the exam:
CUCET admit card: CUCET 2020 admit card is a very important document to be carried to the test centre. Candidates not having their admit card on the
day of the exam might not be allowed to give the paper.
ID Proof : Candidates must also carry a valid and original photo ID proof to the exam centre. Documents that can be presented as an ID proof are Driving
License, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, etc.
Photo: Candidates are also advised to carry a passport size photograph to the test centre. T he photograph should preferably be the same as used at the
time of filling CUCET application form.
Apart from knowing about the documents to be carried, candidates should also be aware about the things that should not be carried inside the exam hall.
Some such things include calculators, mobile phones, watches, eatables, etc.

Application Form: T he online registrations and availability of the CUCET 2020 application forms will be available on the official website of the exam from
the third week of March, 2020 onwards. T he last date for the submission of the application forms are till the second week of April, 2020. Candidates are
advised to submit the forms well before the due date as applications after the due date will not be entertained.
Admit Card: Candidates who have successfully filled and submitted the application form, can avail the CUCET admit card which will be released on the
official website of the exam in the second week of May, 2020. Candidates are advised to check the CUCET admit card thoroughly. If there is any error or
mistake in the hall ticket, applicants are advised to contact the officials immediately.
CUCET 2020 Exam: T he CUCET 2020 exam will be conducted in the fourth week of May, 2020. Candidates are advised to check the CUCET 2020 exam
pattern, marking scheme and syllabus before appearing for the CUCET entrance exam. Candidates are advised that the aspirant will not be allowed to
appear for the exam without the admit card.
CUCET Answer Key: T he CUCET 2020 answer key will be released after the entrance exam has been conducted. Following the release, the final answer
key will be released in the second week of June, 2020.
CUCET 2020 Results: T he results will be announced in the third week of June, 2020. T he CUCET 2020 results will be declared on the official website of the
exam. Candidates will have to login in order to check the results.
CUCET 2020 Counselling : Candidates who have cleared the CUCET 2020 will be called in for the counselling session. Aspirants who have applied for
MSc/MA in Digital Society course will have to appear an interview round.

Things to keep in mind while filling CUCET Application Form

Candidates can apply to a maximum of three participating central universities only. T o apply to more than three universities, candidates need to pay the
application fee again.
Application form of a candidate will not be accepted by exam authorities till CUCET test fee is paid successfully.
An email and SMS will be sent on candidates’ registered email ID and phone number on successful CUCET online application form submission and fee
payment.
Candidates making application fee payment through SBI challan may have to wait for seven days to receive the confirmation for acceptance of CUCET
registration form.

How to fill CUCET 2020 Application Form


Candidates seeking admission can apply for CUCET via online mode on the official website of the exam as per the below steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit CUCET Website
T o start with, candidates will have to visit the official website of CUCET exam and click the “Apply” button present on the Home page. On clicking the link,
a new page will open. T hereafter, candidates need to apply for the course level (UG, PG, MPhil/ PhD) in which they wish to secure admission by clicking on
the “Apply” button again. On clicking the link, application form will open on the screen.
Step 2: Fill CUCET Application Form
Details that candidates need to fill in CUCET application form are as follows:
Personal details: T his section requires candidates to enter information like their name, email ID, phone number, and date of birth. Candidates also need
to choose a password for themselves at this stage. T hereafter, candidates need to click on the “Save & Proceed” button following which other sections
will appear on the screen.
Qualif ying exam details: In this section, candidates need to enter their qualifying exam details such as name of board/ college, passing year, marks
obtained, and percentage scored.
Address f or correspondence: Here, candidates need to enter their address that will be used for any communication regarding the exam.
Exam centre: Next, candidates need to choose the examination city in which they wish to appear for the exam.
Declaration: Candidates need to click on the checkbox present in the declaration box and click, “Save & Proceed”. Candidates will be redirected to the
next stage of application process.
Step 3: Upload Photog raph and Sig nature
At this stage, candidates need to upload their scanned photograph and signature as per the prescribed specifications (Photograph Size: 10KB – 100KB,
Signature Size: 5KB – 20KB).
Step 4 : Select Courses and Universities
Here, candidates first need to select any three universities in which they wish to secure admission. T hereafter, candidates need to select any three
courses in each university for which they wish to apply. Once selected, candidates can click on the “Save & Proceed” button.
On clicking the button, the preview of application form will open on the screen. At this stage, candidates can edit the form by clicking on the button, “Edit
Application” if they wish to change any information provided in the application. Else, candidates can click on the “Submit & Make Payment” button present
on the page.
Step 5: Pay CUCET Application Fee
Candidates can pay CUCET 2020 application fee in the online (net banking/ credit card/ debit card) or offline (SBI Challan) mode. It may be noted that
candidates’ application fee status (paid/ not paid) will appear on the form.

Selection of CUCET Test Centre


At the time of filling CUCET 2020 application form, candidates can select two exam cities in order of preference in which they wish to appear for the test.
Candidates are advised to select the CUCET exam cities wisely. Candidates can select the cities which are located nearest to their hometown or where
they can make easy accommodation arrangements.
It may be noted that the change of test centre city will not be permitted once the application form is submitted.
Efforts will be made by exam authorities to allot an exam centre to candidates in their preferred city. However, the official website of the exam informs

that in case less than 100 candidates register for a particular centre, it will be cancelled and aspirants will be required to appear at another nearby centre
allotted to them.

CUCET Application FAQs


Q: How much is CUCET exam f ee? Is it dif f erent if I apply f or more courses or universities?
A: CUCET 2020 exam fee is Rs 800 for General/ OBC category candidates and Rs 350 for SC/ ST candidates. Candidates belonging to Pwd category do
not have to pay any exam fee. A candidate can apply for maximum three participating universities (PU) by paying the application fee mentioned above.
Also, a candidate can select upto three courses in each PU. T o apply to more than three universities candidates have to pay the application fee again.
Q: How will I know that my application has reached the exam authorities?
A: On successful submission of CUCET online application form along with exam fee, an automated email and SMS will be sent on the registered email ID
and mobile number of candidates. It may be noted that in case candidates make application fee payment through challan they may have to wait for
seven days to receive the email and SMS.
Q: Can I f ill the application f orm of f line?
A: No, CUCET application forms can be filled in online mode on the official website of the exam only.
Q: What can I do if I f ace dif f iculty in f illing the online application f orm or if do not receive automated email and SMS?
A: In case candidates face any difficulty in filling the application form or do not receive the automated response on email and SMS within 24 hours of

It may be noted that at the time of contacting exam authorities, candidates should be ready with the following information: registration number, email

Q: Is it mandatory to f ill the application f orm at one g o?
A: No, candidates can fill CUCET application form partially and then login again to complete it later.
Q. Can I f ill and submit the application f orm on the day it is released?
A. Yes. Candidates can fill the form on the first day of release till the last day of submission. Candidates will not be able to apply once the application
process is over.
Q. Does the passport-sized photog raph have to be coloured or black and white?
A. Candidates are advised to upload a scanned copy of their passport-size photograph which should be coloured.

Pattern
CUCET 2020 exam pattern is such that question papers for almost all the courses contain a total of 100 multiple choice questions that candidates need
to complete in two hours duration. Each paper is divided into parts – A and B. However, Part B may be further divided into sections (depending on the
course a candidate is applying for). Each section of Part B can have 25 or more questions.

Note: In Part B, it is mandatory for candidates to attempt questions from Section I and II. However, candidates have the option of attempting questions
from either Section III or IV. In case a candidate answers questions asked in both Section III and IV, best of three sections are evaluated (this means

Central universities prescribe elaborated CUCET syllabus each year. Candidates are recommended to go through CUCET syllabus for their particular
course thoroughly in order to prepare well for the entrance exam.

T he CUCET 2020 admit card will be released in the second week of May, 2020 on the official website of CUCET . All candidates who have successfully
registered, filled and submitted their application form along with the application fee can avail the CUCET 2020 admit card once released.

Steps to download CUCET Admit Card 2019


Candidates can follow the below-mentioned step by step process on how to download the CUCET 2020 admit card.
Step 1: T he candidate will have to visit the official website of CUCET . Once the aspirant has landed in the page, a link will be present on the screen ‘CUCET
2020 Admit Card’.
Step 2: T he candidate will have to click on the link, where they will be directed to a new page. T he candidate will have to enter the following credentials:
Application ID
Date of Birth
Step 3: Once the candidate has entered the required details, the applicant will be directed to a new page where the admit card will be displayed on the
screen.
Step 4 : T he candidate can download and take a print out of the CUCET 2020 admit card.
Once downloaded, candidates can take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the allotted exam centre.

Things to Remember
It is mandatory for the candidate to carry the CUCET admit card to their respective exam centre. Without the hall ticket, the candidate will not be allowed
to appear for the entrance exam.
Candidates are advised to check all the details on the admit card. If there is any form of error, the candidate shall immediately contact the officials to get
the details rectified.
Along with the admit card, the candidate has to carry a valid identity proof which can either of the following:

Results for CUCET exam are prepared by the authorities on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the written entrance exam. However, it may be
noted that for some course admissions, results are also prepared basis candidates’ performance in the written exam as well as interview.
Candidates clearing all rounds of admissions are called for final round of admissions – counselling. In the CUCET counselling session, candidates are
allotted seats in their respective courses and university/ institute on the basis of merit.

After the CUCET results are declared, candidates are allotted seats in their respective course and university/ institute through counselling. CUCET
counselling session is conducted at each university/ institute separately. All qualifying candidates who wish to secure admission at any of the participating
universities of CUCET exam need to fill the admission form available on the official website of the respective university.
T hereafter, on the day of counselling, candidates need to carry the admission form at the respective university/ institute.
