OPERATION Vol. tI MAINTENANCE Vol. ill COMPONENTS, DESCRIPTIONS ‘The purpose of these books isto provide general guidance on operation and maintenance and to describe the constructional features ofa standard version of an MAN B&W main diesel en- gine. Deviations may be found in a specific plant. In addition, the books can be used for ret erence purposes, for instance in correspondence and when ordering spare parts. !tis essential thatthe folowing datas stated in spare parts orders as itis used by us to ensure ‘the supply ofthe correct parts forthe individual engines: 1. Name of vessel 2. Engine No. bit by 3. Pate No. 4. PartNo, 5. Furthermore, to ensure optimum efficiency, relialily and lifetime of the engine and its com- Ponents, only original spare parts should be used. ‘The designation *D" used in texts and ilustrations refers tothe information given on the data sheets inserted in the respective books. Note: This standard edion of the instruction book doesnot refer to any specific engine plat, so the design features described may fer from those actualy found on a ven engine. Furthermore, on afew points, more than one soliton may be described. {As reliable and economical operation of the diesel engines is conditional onthe correct oper- ation and maintenance, its essential thet the engine room porsonnel are fully acquainted with ‘the contents ofthis book ‘Ths book is subject to copyright protection.
