. Evaluation of the LL open/closed signalling circuit
. Control of the LL,solenoid at rotor standstill
. Temperature measurement and sensor evaluation of the temperature sensor in lid
. Routine for input, storage and transfer of temperature offset values
(offset values are transmitted to the SB each time the mains power is switched on)
. Format of the serial interface:
- CP without adjusting knob:
5 Volt interface with 3 conductors
(16-pole control cable, pole 6, 8 and 11)
- CP with adjusting knob:
RS 485 interface via 2 conductors
(26-pole control cable, pole 19 and 20)
. The CP is powered from the SB via the control cable:
+ 15.. .20 Volt pole 1,2,25,26
GND pole 15,16,17,18
2.3. 5upply board (SB)
The SB performs the following individual functions:
. 18 V OC and 5 V OC supplies for the SB
. 18 V OC supply for the CP
. Temperature measurement and evaluation of the temperature sensor in centrifuge
chamber
. Evaluation of the overtemperature switch in centrifuge chamber
. T emperature measurement and evaluation of the temperature sensor at condenser
. T emperature measurement and evaluation of the temperature sensor at centrifuge
chamber outlet
. Evaluation of overpressure switch, if necessary
. Evaluation of the signallng circuit for LL open/closed
. Evaluation of the overtemperature fuse at brake resistor (trips the FC)
. Power supply for speed sensor (speedometer)
. Plugging station for speed sensor cable and onward transmission to the CP
. Evaluation of the tacho pulses for standstill
. Control of the LL solenoid at rotor standstill
. Plugging station for the imbalance switch and direct onward transmission of the
imbalance signal to the CP
. Processing of the individual sensor temperatures:

ZENTRIFUGEN
· Slave behaviour (handling of interrogations and commands from the CP via the
serial interface):
NOMINAL temperature and OFFSET temperatures are set by the CP via the serial
interface. The ACTUAL temperature is queried by the CP.
2-3
· Evaluation of the primary enabling for the FC
(5-pole control cable, pole 1)
Although one microprocessor will fail, the other two will continue to monitor their
assigned areas.
If the CP fails, the drive will be shut down automatically by the FC, when no
interrogations have been received via the interface for more than 60 seconds.
· Interface concept:
Transmission of data is monitored by an extra check sumo
. Hardware concept:
All switches with a safety relevant function are of the NC contact type, which
means that loose contacts and open-circuit faults can also be detected.
2-4
2.6. Braking chopper (BC)! Brake resistor (BR)
$ The BC regulates the flow of the electric power produced during braking (exceeding
a voltage of approximately 390 V) to the BR.
· The BR are protected against fire by an overtemperature fuse. If the BC suffers a
short-circuit, the BR will overheat, causing the overtemperature fuse to blowand, via
two relays on the SB, isolates the FC from the mains supply.
2.8. Interlocking
· Opening of the LL is prevented by a latch. The LL can only be opened when the
relay on the SB has picked up.
This occurs when the rotor is at standstill and mains power is applied. A solenoid picks
up and releases the latch.
· The centrifuge can only be started when the lid is closed. A microswitch on the LL
detects the position of the LL.

2.12. Ventiation
e The fan is controlled by a temperature-sensitive phasecut control system.
e When the cooling system is switched on, the fan runs at a fixed starting speed.
EI The fan accelerates as the temperature at the condenser rises.
e At 32°C the fan' s speed control starts and the speed is regulated to produce a
constant temperature of 34°C at the condenser.
· When the cooling is switched off and the condenser temperature drops, the fan' s
speed is reduced to minimum value.
· Below 28°C the phasecut control system is no longer triggered and the fan stops.

8, Functional test
8.1. Checking the proper working order
By measuring and comparing the data listed under Chart 1, it can be ascertained
whether a centrifuge is in proper working order. A precondition for this is that the
necessary components stated under Chart 1 are used for the measurements.
If the measurements are carried out using other components, the numerical values from
the "Rotor and accessories" chapter of the operating instructions for the particular
centrifuge must be employed.
If the measured values obtained for
the speed,
the starting and rundown times, and
the temperatures in cooled centrifuges,
areidentical to the numerical values in Chart 1, or to those in the "Rotor and
accessories" section of the operating instructions, then the centrifuge is in proper order.

10. Options (only CP with adjusting knob)
10.1. Options. 1: Programs being run in sequence
A number of programs can be executed in sequence by:
- The program sequence is keyed in, with the individual program data being
keyed in at the same time.
- The program sequence of programs which have already been stored is keyed
in.
Requirement for keying-in the sequence of programs:
- The jumper is to be moved from the BO-B1 service position to the PROG-
PART plug-in position B6 on the coding list on the supply board. For coding
plan see section 11.
Programs can only be linked if the startup and the run-down are preselected at stages
1-9 or 0-9. Storing is not possible if startup is time-managed.
3. Use the adjusting knob in the reversed numerical panel to select the desired
program sequence number for starting of program sequences.
4. Press the ISTOI key.
5. If program sequence number for starting of program sequences is flashing, ISTOI key
must be pressed once more.
6. After the ISTOI key is pressed, the program sequence number increments by 1 and is
displayed as folIows: " + X + ".
7. Storing is not possible, if a numerical panel appears in reverse in the display.
8. Enter further data required for centrifuging and repeat step 4.
9. To stop the program sequences the desired run-down stage and/or the brake force
cut-off speed should be verified by the parameter"' and the IPROGI key is to be
pressed. The program sequence no. decrements by 1. The end of the program
sequence is indicated by" + X".
