This symbol draws attention to important conditions and/or
circumstances.
The following symbols are later repeated at their relevant place in the
Operating Instructions that refer to safety information, and are to be
strictly adhered to.
Danger
Caution
The considerable force used when coupling the ventilation system can
cause pinching of the finger tips or skin folds.
Warning
Warning
Use only dry, purified gases (AIR, O2, N2O). Moisture in the gas lines
can lead to technical failure of the unit.
Warning
There must be no objects between the coupling device and the ventilation
system. Leakage or even a disabling of the inhalation anesthesia unit
function can be the result.
Warning
When moving the unit on its mobile stand, it must be ensured that the
wheel brakes have been released, and when setting up the unit again that
the brakes have been proper locked.

Warning
The protective cover for the SD card slot must always be in place.
Warning
The following maintenance sets for AKZENT COLOR are available from
Fritz Stephan GmbH.
3.2.1 Preparation
There are two different types of adapter (DIN or NIST). The maintenance
kit contains both O-rings (NIST) and sealing washers (DIN).
The O-rings for the NIST connections AIR, O2 and N2O are identical.
For the DIN connections, there are two types of sealing washers: for O2
and N2O (19516006) and for AIR (195160007).
When dismantling the water trap unit, make sure that the transparent
plastic containers are not damaged. Always use the supplied mounting
tool to unscrew the containers. Check that O-ring 195060077 fits

adjusted.
Check the following points once again after replacing the O-rings:
Fig. 26: Detailed view: containers for bellows and CO2 absorbent lime,
bellows and CO2 absorbent lime sieve
Fig. 27: Detailed view: APL valve, inspiration and expiration valves,
valve covers, internal PNTs
The two O-rings of the APL valves differ in size. Grease the O-rings
lightly with oxygen grease (170260600) before fitting in position.
Caution
The four O-rings of the internal PNTs differ in size. Grease O-rings
lightly with oxygen grease (170260600) before fitting in position.
Caution
The O-rings of the valve covers differ in size. Grease O-rings lightly with
oxygen grease (170260600) before fitting in position.
Caution
Fig. 32: Replacing O-rings at the lid of inspiration and expiration valves
Ensure that O-ring of CO2 absorbent lime sieve remains in position when
fitting the sieve itself later.
Caution
Ensure that O-rings fit firmly in place and are not crushed.
If the function check is negative, check all work steps again and repeat
the test. If this still fails to produce any results, contact Customer Service
of FRITZ STEPHAN GMBH, stating the serial numbers for AKZENT

Table 4: Check between successive narcosis sessions
Check that the different supply gases O2, Air and, depending on the
version, N2O, are connected correctly.
To do so, close all dosage valves of the gas mixing unit. Then open
the O2 dosage valve of the gas mixing unit to the maximum. The O2
concentration shown on the AKZENT COLOR monitor must be 95-99
%.
When this test is successful, close the O2 dosage valve. Then open the
Air dosage valve to the maximum. The O2 concentration shown on
the AKZENT COLOR monitor must be 21 %.
When using an AKZENT COLOR with N2O, close the Air dosage
valve, open the N2O valve completely and adjust O2 valve to 1 liter.
Check the N2O concentration (at the ratio of N2O:O2 /3:1) with
internal (ILCA) or external anesthesia gas module.
Check the function of the O2 flush button. The O2 concentration
shown on the monitor of the AKZENT COLOR must be 95-99 %.
If all tests are successful, the AKZENT COLOR is ready to use. If one of
the tests failed, check the supply gas connections again and repeat the
tests.
