360 Degree Feedback
360 degree feedback is a common development tool for assessing performance. Basically it is a
process where not only the superiors (managers, direct reports) but also the peers and even the
customers can evaluate the employees anonymously. It's based on the analysis of the people's
perspectives. It can be called the insight of the outsiders to the employees. People participating
the process usually fill out an anonymous online feedback form that asks the questions related to
workplace competencies. Self-rating survey is also a part of this process. It enhances the
communication during teamwork. An individual can develop himself and improve customer
service through this method. However, 360 degree feedback shouldn't be linked to performance
appraisals, rather it should be linked to compensation decisions because morale could decrease if
it's linked to performance appraisals.
