INT. MOVIE THEATRE - NIGHT

We see TURNER sitting in his seat. He is patiently waiting

for his contact to arrive. MARISSA (12) enters and sits
beside him. Turner looks around to see where he can move, but
before he can get up...

MARISSA
‘The coming attractions are worth the
price of admission’.

Turner is surprised and eyes her.

MARISSA
‘The coming attractions are worth the
price of admission.’

TURNER
What? Are you kidding me?

MARISSA
Are you Mr. TURNER?

TURNER
What the heck is going on here?

MARISSA
(slowly)
‘The coming attractions are...

TURNER
Yeah, yeah, I heard you kid.

MARISSA
You’re supposed to say something back.
Something particular?

TURNER
(reluctantly)
‘Yes, that’s show biz.’ You want to tell
me why I’m meeting a kid in a theatre?

MARISSA
I called for you. It’s an easy job. That
is, if you’re up for it.

TURNER
Wait, you’re Mr. Manfield’s
granddaughter. Are you nuts? Do you know
what I do for your grandfather?

MARISSA
Yes, that’s why I arranged to meet you.
I want someone hurt, you know, send a
message?
(beat)
Popcorn?

Marissa offers Turner her popcorn.

TURNER
Look, I don’t know if your grandfather
put you up to this, but I’m not going to
waste my time talking to you. You should
be home ...watching Nickelodeon ...or
something.

MARISSA
Mr. Turner, you want the job or not?

TURNER
Look, I’m going to leave right now and
I’m calling your grandfather...

MARISSA
No you’re not. Because I’ll just tell him
you lured me here for some, you know,
really disgusting reasons and you know
what he’ll do to you then, right?

TURNER
Alright ...alright. I’ll play along. What
do you want?

MARISSA
Tommy Gillis. He’s a student at Keller
Middle School. I just want you to smack
him around and take him for a ride in
your trunk. Just scare him, that’s all.

TURNER
What?

MARISSA
He’s a pig. He’s always beating on my
brother and he picks on my best friend,
Sarah. The guy’s psycho. He belongs in a
mental ward.

TURNER
That’s it? You call me out to handle a
school bully?

TURNER (CONT'D)
Here’s my advice, go to high school,
college, get a degree, get married, have
kids, whatever. Later in life, you’ll
forget about this. Like I always say,
‘What doesn’t kill you, makes you
stronger.

MARISSA
I’ll pay you five grand. Half now, half
when you provide a completely humiliating
picture of him.

(beat)

TURNER
Five grand? You have five grand?

MARISSA
Yes.

TURNER
Cash?

MARISSA
Non sequential bills. Ten’s and twenties.

TURNER
So, what’s this Tommy kid look like.

END.
