A single distributor would deliver all perishable food items using CDC which would increase overall

efficiency. Having fresh food items in 7-Eleven convenience stores helps users get from convenient
locations a variety of fresh food. The systematic delivery system minimized the uncertainty regarding
delivery times. The cost of inventory was low since fresh food items cannot be inventoried. Through
regular replenishment of fresh good items in stock, the management would be fresh and larger and
more processes now under the company's supervision would improve efficiency.

In the United States the manufacturers carry much more interest than they do in Japan. Because the
retail density in the U.S. is small, a manufacturer will distribute sales in many competitive stores. This
allows the dealer to hit distribution rates that can't be achieved by single chain management like Seven-
Eleven.

Furthermore, a major benefit of having a dealer replenish the convenience store is that there is no need
for the stores to invest in transportation and trucks to do this job.

Distribution system management is the responsibility of the manufacturer, and not Seven Eleven. That
gives Seven-Eleven times to concentrate on their core competencies.

Perhaps this method will prove cost-effective in the long run when the distributors are fully familiar with
the convenience store's replenishment process, quality requirements, etc.
