1.Statement of the problem:

Human resource management aims at obtaining capable people for achieving the
objectives of the organization and for ensuring effective utilization of their
services. As the success of any organization largely depends on the quality of its
human resources and the extent to which they are motivated, human resource
management acquires special significance in an organization. Human resource
policy, practices and procedures constitute human resource management. Goal
directed policy, well accepted practices and well designed procedures contribute to
the successful execution of the vital and critical human resource function. Among
these human resource practices play a significant role in shaping, influencing and
enhancing the morale, motivation, capability, commitment and ultimately
performance of the employees. Hence there is need for effective management of
human resources irrespective of the size and nature of the organization. The
researcher intends to investigate the impact of “HR policy & practices of Corus
Sweater Ltd with special reference to human resource management which relates
to the total set of knowledge, skills and attitudes that firms need to compete. It
involves concern for and action taken in the management of people. It deals with
issues like recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation
packages, performance appraisal, industrial relations ,manpower planning etc.
Such actions may be bound together by the creation of an HRM philosophy.

2. Objectives of the study:

The main objective of this study is to have an assessment about overall practices of
Human resource management in Corus Sweater Ltd ,Dhaka
The specific objectives of the study are as follows :

 To provide an overview of HR practice performed in in Corus Sweater Ltd


.Dhaka.
 To identify the impact of HR practice on the performance. of employees
 To find out the factors of HR practice that ensures sustainability among
competitors.
 To suggest policy implications arising out of the study

Scope of the study:


The scope of the study will be concentrated mainly on the variables like Manpower
Planning, Compensation Package, R&S process, T&D, Performance Appraisal etc

 Manpower planning: Human resource planning consists of putting right


number of people, right kind of people at the right place, right time doing the
right things for which they are suited for the achievement of goals of the
organization.
 Compensation package: The compensation package a business offers to
employees affects the industry recruitment rate, retention rate and employee
satisfaction.
 Recruitment and selection process: The recruitment process as it can prove
to be very crucial in terms selecting the right people.
 Training and development: Human resource enable them to perform better
and empower them to make the best use of their natural abilities.
 Performance appraisal: This process of evaluating the performance of
employees sharing that information with them and searching for ways to
improve their performance.

3 . Methodology:

Secondary Sources:

 Analyzing serval confidential reports.
 Visiting the company website, “ in Corus Sweater Ltd ”.
 Previous report from the campus library, City University

 Primary Source of Data:


 Daily note maintenance.
 Interview employee, worker. And.
 Conversation with this company HR manager, Sr. Executives,
Executives etc.
3.3. Sample Size:

Selecting the study area: Corus Sweater Ltd ,Savar ,Dhaka will be the study
area of the research.

Study Sample

This is a qualitative research and mainly uses own observation/qualitative survey


and use a complete census method. Thus 15 employees including the HR
personnel will be considered in the census

Data Collection :

3.1. Questionnaires:
A structured questionnaire has been used to collect data for the study. This
questionnaire consists of 30 specific questions. which are categorized into 5 factors
which are considered as key HR functions namely.
 Manpower planning.
 Compensation package.
 Recruitment and selection process.
 Training and development. And
 Performance appraisal.
Every human resource functions consists of 6 specific questions; 5 liker scale is
used to measure the HR practices of “Corus Sweater Ltd ,Savar ,Dhaka”.
The 5 point of the scale indicate in the questionnaire are:
 Strong Disagree.
 Disagree.
 Neutral.
 Agree, And
 Strong Agree.

1.5 implementation of the study:
The study will be implemented in written reports that include all research steps supports by
major findings. The report will be submitted in due date with providing appendix tables, graphs,
charts, figures and related information. Department of Business Administration, City University,
will own this study, Name: Monirul Islam ID: 153491347, Batch:41 th, Major: HRM, will be
researcher of the study. Dr. Mihir Kumar Roy , Professor, Department of Business
Administration, City University, will provide technical guidance to the student.
