1. Introduction
Down-hole self-contained combined tool GEO-6 makes registration of 6 parameters:
pressure P, temperature T, gamma-ray GR, fluid flow-meter Q, collar locator CCL,
thermoindication STI.
Using the tool allows you to:
To produce a research of injection wells in operation at a pressure at the wellhead
without stopping of the injection and the formation water spout.
Research the wellbore, including the upper fresh water aquifers.
Receive the log well data from PC directly at the well.
Reduce the duration of the well research significantly due to the exclusion of
works to pressure relief and upload of recovery injection mode.
Information is received from the sensors to the memory block of down-hole tool where
stored for measuring time. Power is supplied by a lithium battery or accumulator.
After working the tool information is read into the PC. Then you can explore the results
and control data on the screen as a standard log data in the time format. After combining of
tool GEO-6 data with depth data it can be formed a single file of depth format (LAS). If
necessary, all the data is issued to the printer in the standard form.
The software allows you to work in the Windows operating system and provides the following
main functions:
-switching on(with delay)/off the tool in the recording mode using a computer (by
Geo6.exe);
-show the actual values of all channels to check the tool computer (by Geo6.exe);
-specifying different measurement programs (<= 16) with the possibility of setting of
different modes of the tool (on/off of individual channels, delays, and the cycle) within
each program (by Geo6.exe);
-reading the recorded information from the tool and view it graphically and digitally on a
computer screen (by GeotekhApp.exe);
-receiving the output files of LAS standards (by GeotekhApp.exe).

Diameter, mm ........................................................................................................ 28,30,36,38,42
Mass, kg .............................................................................................................................. from 4
Note - The complete set of the tool depends on the number of channels, pressure range,
temperature range, and the presence in the work environment of gas.
The tool consists of probe with the chassis with sensors and electronic boards, protective
casing, tool tips (upper and bottom) and upper/bottom flow-meters. You can connect or both
flow-meters or only one, or none.
After removing the upper tool tip you can access to the connector for connection to a PC.
After removing the protective casing, you can access to the electronic section.
In the electronic section are:
the connector for connection to a PC,
4
the GR sensor with electronic board,
the battery section,
the CCL sensor,
the electronic board with micro-computer, memory and analog signal converters.
The operation principle is the measurement of physical quantities through the specified
time interval, converting them into digital code and record to non-volatile FLASH-memory.
Conversion of analog signals from the primary sensors into a digital code is produced by
analog-to-digital converter. Every function of the tool controls the microcontroller.
For pressure measuring is used the tensometric sensor of pressure. Additionally is used
the channel of temperature compensation of pressure sensor.
Channel of temperature consists of a highly sensitive platinum thermal resistance
sensor.
Connection the tool to a PC is possible in two ways. The first option is via an adapter
cable (included to delivery) to the USB port of a PC. The second option is via cable (not
included) to the COM port of the PC.
Scheme of the communication cable to the COM port and circuit connector adapter cable
for USB port are given in Appendix 3.
The power supply used accumulator the charging is done via the interface connector.
Scheme of location of pin connector is given in Appendix 3.
The power supply used lithium batteries (at operating temperatures above 95 to 150
degrees) or the accumulator (at operating temperatures up to 95 degrees).
For accumulator powered tools to prevent deep discharge of the accumulator the
scheme of disconnection reducing critical supply voltage (about 3 V) is used.
Battery powered tools continue to work to reduce the supply voltage 3.3-3.5 V, but in this
case the functionality of some measurement channels can not be guaranteed.
In the software manual of application GEO-6.exe described how to change the coefficients of
snapping.
6
8.6 When transporting the tool in a car in assembling form with caps and protective cover
in special sockets padded of damping materials.
8.7 The descent and lifting of the tool in a well to produce at a rate not more than 3000
m/h.
8.8 After lifting out of the well to wash the tool with water or diesel fuel and dry with a
cloth.
8.9 Opening access to a pressure sensor in the probe to clean with wire and rinse with
diesel fuel.
8.10 Before to descending of the tool in the well it is need monitored the voltage of power
sources.
8.11 Provide the maintenance of the tool once of every quarter. Maintenance consists of
the same points as described in section 4.
8.12 When disassembling and the assembly of the sealing connection of the tool draw
an attention to the mating surfaces and rubber rings. Surface of mating parts must be clean and
free of abrasive products and corrosion products. Rings should be protected from distortions
twisting of mechanical damage and cuts. The rings must not have changes of the shape and
high elasticity. When assembling the ring should be covered with grease, non-destructive of
rubber (castor oil).
8.13 By unscrewing the upper tip do not allow the fluid flow down into the tool.
8. Power supply.
Battery or accumulator can be sources of power supply. Batteries located in the battery
compartment firmly secured to the chassis at the top of the tool. The battery cover is labeled
"Power Supply".
To charge the accumulators need to:
1. Unscrew the upper tip.
2. Connect the charger (charger) for the tool.
3. Switch on the charger in the current network.
4. Ensure the ignition of the red light on the charger housing.
5. Recharge the deck until the green LED on the charger.
6. Turn off the charger from the network and from the tool.
7. Connect the tool to the computer and check the power supply voltage (should be
within 4.1-4.2 V)
1. Surfaces to be soldered should be checked to make sure that there are no oil, dirt or
residue isolation. Debris should be carefully removed, until the surface is clean and
shiny.
2. Turn on the soldering iron and let it warm up to the desired temperature. Do not
attempt to use a soldering iron before it warms up.
7
3. Lubricate the end surfaces of batteries by active flux type "F- 38N" (or other) and to
tin.
4. Ends of the conductors, which will be connected to the battery, clean up and to tin.
When soldering iron heated to the desired temperature, attach it to the mix, and not
to solder. This is perhaps the most important point, if its done properly, you get a
defective junction with the "cold" soldering. "Cold" is the result of solder that is
applied to the solder joint before component leads or wires will warm good soldering
iron. Just after the soldering connection is warmed up, it is placed a drop of solder,
which can freely spread over the surface. If the connection is heated to the same
temperature as the solder, the solder will melt and fill all cavities in the connecting
parts. Be sure to use a small drop of solder, as too much will also cause the
formation of "cold junction". This is due to the fact that too much hitch solder melts
completely.
5 . When the solder to be spread were soldered connection, remove the soldering iron
and wait 20 seconds until the solder cools. It is important that at this time no moving
parts are brazed, as this may lead to cracking and disruption of the solder contact.
When 20 sec will pass, gently tug conclusions to ensure that just made no
mechanical connection mobility. Now, inspect the connection: whether it features a
"cold" solder, such as dull surface or melt bits of solder. Good solder connection
should be smooth and shiny.
6. Solder to produce by soldering iron of power more than 40 watts. Do not heat the
lithium batteries for more than 100 degrees, so the solder does not produce more
than 5 seconds.
7. At the end of the soldering flux residues must be thoroughly removed from the welded
surfaces.
ATTENTION!
In case of violation of the rules of operation with the lithium power sources it may
cause an explosion, followed by ignition of lithium.
8
Operating with an application Geo6.exe when replacing the power supply
When replacing the power supply it must be set to the application an initial capacity of
installed batteries at mA per hour (typically 1000 mAh) and the current capacity to 100%. To do
this, you must connect the tool to the computer. Run the application Geo6.exe. Select the
COM-port and click the button "Open". After a successful connection, the status bar displays
the message «COM1: Open/Connection is established with GEO-6". Go to the tab "Calibration".
In the inner tab "Power Source" to set the appropriate areas and press the button "Apply".
