Objectives:
- To perform field area inspection or reconaissance for establishment of points to be used as
benchmarks for the vertical control network

Methodology

The process of reconaissance or an initial observation of the survey area is to be performed in

order to create route plans for the leveling project. The entire area for the project comprises of almost the
entire UP campus, and seven points are to be marked as benchmark points on specific locations that were
assigned. These include:
- MMA 39
- a point located near the Oblation
- the fire hydrant on the Southeast corner of Melchor Hall
- a control point located near the College of Education Building
- a point located within the vicinity of the Ylanan gate and Track Oval (see figure below)
- A point located within the vicinity of UP Arcade (see figure below)
- A point located within the National Science Complex (see figure below)

During the actual reconaissance, the group travelled through and looked out for possible roads
and routes to provide an easier means of traversing the whole vertical network. Images of the points and
other nearby landmarks were captured in order to provide references for relocating the said points and to
aid in creating an effective network design consisting of level lines between the points.
