13-Year-Old Writing Year-Long Reflection

This year was possibly the most enjoyable for me. Although it was full of challenges and

hardships, it helped me gain a deeper understanding of writing. Not only did out teacher help

guide us through the writing course, he also gave insightful advice that will show in my future

writings. This school year was fulfilling and exciting and I am happy with the way it has turned

out.

Throughout the writing course, I was exposed to many new ideas and concepts. Some of

which were homophones. At the start of the school year, I was not sure what homophones

exactly were. Homophones are two or more words with similar sounds or spelling but with

different meaning. At first, it seemed like a simple concept that I could learn easily. However,

now, I see the importance of keeping track and learning about them. There are thousands of

homophones and if you misuse a word, it could have a huge impact on your writing. Throughout

the school year, and even till today, I have been working hard on keeping track on homophones,

so I do not misuse them in my writing. Another concept that I learned throughout the writing

course was the importance of creativity in writing. During many units in our writing course, the

students were asked to write a piece of writing that were based on our imagination and creativity.

This included our short fiction story and poetry. Furthermore, in the children’s book, the students

could decorate and design the children’s book, so it looked appealing and interesting. All these

works mentioned above showed me how important it is to be creative in our writing.

 Ultimately, this school year was spectacular, and I would not have changed anything

about it. Although there were many difficult hurdles along the way, I have grown stronger

because of them. The writing course was full of information and new ideas that will help me in

the future. This school year was fulfilling and I hope that I will treasure the memory forever.
