Language Pathologist. Provide a brief description on their roles on each workplace (15 points)

Physical Therapist
Extended Care Facility /Nursing Home/Skilled Nursing Facility – Physical therapist in this setting
provides care, rehabilitation and other services for the elderly patients.
Wellness/Prevention/Sports/Fitness – physical therapist in this setting focuses on the individual’s
wellness. Promoting a healthy lifestyle to prevent illness and diseases.

Rehabilitation Hospital – in this setting, the physical therapist provides intense therapy to improve the
ability of the person to take care of himself independently.

Research Center- physical therapist and other proffesionals seeks ways to improve patient care outcomes
and continues to seek new ways to improve the field of physical therapy.

School – physical therapy is present in an educational environment that includes preschool to secondary
education facilities.

Occupational Therapist
Acute Care Hospitals – occupational therapist helps in promoting independence in everyday activities
such hygiene, eating and grooming.
Pediatrics- works specifically with children in promoting age appropriate skills.
Subacute Care- patients with a slower progress is the focus in this setting, goals are typically lower
compared to the functional outcome.
Rehabilitation Hospitals- in this setting, it is an intensive and therapy focused environment, the
Occupational therapist’s goal is for the patient to regain functional independence.

Speech Language Pathologist


Hospitals- Diagnose and treat cognitive-communication disorders of patients and is a part of
interprofessional treatment team
Residential Health Care Facilities -SLPs perform screening and assessment and treats in this facility.
Works on functional skills of the patient to become more independent
Nonresidential Health Care Facilities- SLPs treat patients in a home setting or in speech and hearing
clinics.
Private Practice- These SLP have practice their profession on their own. Owning a private clinic allows
them to have their own decisions with regards to their schedule
Corporate Speech-Language Pathology- SLPs provide services to a specific company or as a
consultant. Offers training and assessment to different aspects in communication as well as other
communication skills needed in the business world
2. Create a diagram or visual representation of an outpatient clinic flow chart from Referral/Receiving
→  Discharge/Check-out. The more procedures, the better. You may use the internet for resources but
make sure you do not copy - paste their visual representation. Make your own and paraphrase if you
have descriptions in sentences. (15 points: 10 Content, 5 Design/Creativity)
