The Adult Education and Family Literacy Department at Paris Junior College will hold sessions
for students wanting to take general education development (GED) classes.!
!
The GED classes are offered at no cost to the students and will be held at the PJC – Sulphur
Springs Center. Participation and a commitment to attend each class day are essential to help
students accomplish their learning goals.!
!
The GED day class will run from Jan. 11 to March 11. The class will meet from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
each Tuesday and Thursday, and from 8:30-11:30 a.m. each Friday. Returning GED students (those
enrolled fall, 2010) will attend from Jan. 18 to March 11. A second spring session will run
from March 22 to May 6.!

An evening GED class will run from Jan. 10 to March 10. This class will meet from 5:30- 9 p.m.
each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Returning students will attend from Jan. 19 to March 10.
The second spring session will run from March 21 to May 5.!

English as a Second Language (ESL) day classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, each
Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 26 to May 19, at Our Savior Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. The
ESL evening class will meet from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Monday and Thursday, Jan. 24 to May 19.
This class will also be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.!

An ESL class will also be offered at Como-Pickton High School with childcare provided. This
class will meet from 4:30-7:30 p.m., each Tuesday and Thursday, Jan. 11 to May 5.!

The ESL class in Cooper will meet at the First Baptist Church from 5:30-9 p.m. each Monday and
Tuesday. Returning students will attend from Jan. 31 to May 3. New students will attend from
Jan. 24 to May 3.!

All students must complete a baseline and progress test and adhere to the attendance policy
rules and department requirements. Sixteen-year-olds must be court ordered and submit a copy
of this document on the first day of class. Seventeen-year-olds must bring a school withdrawal
form from the last school attended. This document must be presented on the first class day.
Seventeen-year-olds may also be court ordered.!

Parents or guardians of 16- or 17-year-old students must be present the first class day to
complete release form information prior to class admittance.!
!
GED classes are also available in Paris.!
