1 Introduction
The RRU5901 is an outdoor remote radio unit. It is the radio frequency (RF) part of a
distributed base station and can be located near antennas. The RRU5901 can modulate,
demodulate, combine, and divide baseband and RF signals. It also processes baseband and RF
signal data. With the Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology, the RRU5901 supports the
GL, GM, LM, LN, or GLN multi-mode operation.
Adopting an innovative design, RRU5901 is able to work in 4 TX and 4 RX mode and
therefore supports higher output power and larger carrier capacity.
The software version of the RRU5901 is SRAN12.1, which is compatible with the N-1 and N-
2 versions of MBTS, MBSC, and OSS NEs. Therefore, the RRU5901 can be used with
products of SRAN10.1, SRAN11.1 and SRAN12.1 versions. All these three versions include
the RRU5901 software components. The RRU5901 used in SRAN10.1, SRAN11.1 and
SRAN12.1 has no impact on the KPI of products.

2 Technical Specifications
The RRU5901 hardware and software versions must match. For the version mapping, see
3900 Series Base Station Software and Hardware Compatibility Description.

LTE (FDD) Each RRU5901 supports 2 carriers. The LTE (FDD) bandwidth is 1.4, 3,
5, 10, 15, or 20 MHz.
Mode Capacity
The receiver sensitivity of GSM, as recommended in 3GPP TS 51.021, is measured in the central
band at the antenna connector on condition that the channel rate is 13 kbit/s and the bit error rate
(BER) is not higher than 2%.
The receiver sensitivity of LTE (FDD) is measured, as recommended in 3GPP TS 36.104, under a 5
MHz channel bandwidth based on the FRC A1-3 in Annex A.1 (QPSK, R = 1/3, 25 RBs) standard.
LTE (NB-IoT) receiver sensitivity is measured, as recommended in 3GPP TS 36.104, under a 200
KHz channel bandwidth and a 15 KHz subcarrier spacing based on the FRC A14-1 in Annex A.14
(π/2 BPSK, R = 1/3, 1 RB) standard.

When RRU5901 works in LM mode, NB-IoT can work in inband or guardband mode.
The following steps show how to query NB-IoT power configurations:
Step 1: See NB-IoT Typical Power Configurations. If the power configuration is not in this table,
switch to Step 2.
Step 2: See Table 2.8, and for the detailed power configuration of LTE FDD and NB-IoT, see NB-
IoT (inband & guardband) Power Configuration Combination.

The typical power consumption of an RRU is measured when the ambient temperature is
25°C and the RRU is 50% loaded. The actual power consumption has a 10% deviation from
this value.
